Job DescriptionJob Title: Shipping and Receiving AssociateJob Description The Shipping and Receiving Associate plays a key role in ensuring that trucks are accurately loaded and ready to depart on schedule. You will handle a variety of warehouse tasks including loading and unloading materials, operating material handling equipment, and organizing inventory. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and a commitment to working safely in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Positions are available on 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) and 3rd shift (Sunday–Thursday, 9:30 p.m.–6:00 a.m.). Responsibilities • Load trucks so that they are ready to depart in the morning, using forklifts, side loaders, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment as needed., • Read and interpret work orders, shipping orders, and other documentation to locate, pull, and assemble the correct materials for customer orders., • Move inventory and equipment within the warehouse, including pulling material from racks, unloading incoming material, and loading trucks and customer vehicles., • Receive incoming materials, place or return items into designated stock inventory locations, and ensure items are properly tagged and documented., • Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, or product code., • Tag materials for proper identification and complete all required documentation accurately and on time., • Move materials from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas using forklifts, side loaders, or overhead cranes., • Operate a yard truck to load and unload trailers safely and efficiently., • Perform spot checks on inventory and complete daily or ad hoc checks to verify proper tagging and placement of materials, as directed., • Restock materials as needed to maintain adequate inventory levels and support production and shipping schedules., • Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition by following housekeeping and safety practices., • Report any irregularities, issues, or discrepancies in materials, equipment, or documentation to a supervisor for direction., • Occasionally drive a non-DOT motor vehicle for local deliveries and parts pick-ups., • Adhere to and help ensure compliance with applicable safety and quality standards at all times., • Follow detailed instructions to complete basic, routine tasks consistently and accurately., • Climb on and off truck trailers repeatedly to load and unload materials as required., • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support overall warehouse operations.Essential Skills, • 0–5 years of relevant experience in warehousing, shipping and receiving, or material handling, or an equivalent combination of education and experience., • High school diploma or GED preferred., • Experience with warehousing and material handling operations preferred., • Ability to safely operate forklifts, side loaders, overhead cranes, and related material handling equipment., • Demonstrated ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 60 pounds repetitively., • Ability to push or pull up to 80 pounds of force and to stand for sustained periods of time., • Capability to repeatedly get on and off truck trailers to perform loading and unloading tasks., • Adequate manual and finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination to handle materials and operate equipment safely., • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and apply them to work situations., • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form., • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly., • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions accurately., • Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications used in warehouse or inventory environments., • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting., • Ability to make sound decisions based on knowledge, experience, and judgment., • Ability to work collaboratively and develop good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Prior experience in shipping and receiving, including loading and unloading trucks and customer vehicles., • Experience with inventory control, stock management, and restocking materials., • Background in packaging, packing, picking, and order assembly., • Familiarity with bills of lading and other shipping documentation., • Experience with overhead crane operation and yard truck operation for loading and unloading trailers., • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment with temperatures that may exceed 100°ree;F or fall below 32°ree;F., • Strong attention to detail when tagging, identifying, and documenting materials., • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support various warehouse tasks as needed.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a non-climate-controlled warehouse facility where temperatures can exceed 100°ree;F in warmer conditions and drop below 32°ree;F in colder conditions. The environment is active and hands-on, requiring frequent standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing on and off truck trailers throughout the shift. You will work primarily on 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) or 3rd shift (Sunday–Thursday, 9:30 p.m.–6:00 a.m.), depending on business needs. The facility relies on forklifts, side loaders, overhead cranes, yard trucks, and basic computer systems to manage inventory and shipping activities. The dress code requires jeans or work pants; shorts, sweatpants, and leggings are not permitted. All necessary personal protective equipment, including steel-toed boots, high-visibility shirts, hard hats, safety glasses, and arm guards, is provided to support a safe and professional work environment.
