Job Description We are seeking a Pre-Litigation/Litigation Employment Law Paralegal with deep experience in plaintiff-side employment matters. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and comfortable working independently on complex matters from intake through trial or settlement. You will be a key part of our litigation team and trusted to manage cases, draft critical documents, and support attorneys through all phases of litigation and administrative proceedings. Client Interaction & Case Intake: • Conduct thorough intake interviews with potential and existing clients to gather facts and evaluate legal issues., • Obtain, organize, and analyze supporting documentation such as personnel files, employee handbooks, disciplinary records, time records, pay stubs, and termination notices., • Draft legal pleadings, including complaints, answers, motions, affidavits, discovery requests, discovery responses, and meet-and-confer letters with minimal attorney oversight., • Prepare comprehensive demand letters, mediation briefs, EEOC/DOL position statements, and other pre-litigation advocacy documents., • Manage all aspects of written discovery—propounding and responding to interrogatories, requests for admissions, and document production., • Review, bates-stamp, redact, and index documents for production; organize and maintain document repositories for internal use and external sharing., • Prepare, format, and file pleadings and supporting documents electronically with federal and state courts using PACER, CM/ECF, and state e-filing systems., • File administrative claims and submissions with agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Labor (DOL), and state civil rights agencies., • Assist in preparing exhibits, witness lists, jury instructions, trial subpoenas, and trial binders., • Organize logistics for trial or arbitration, including coordinating travel for witnesses and reserving court reporters or interpreters., • Manage evidence and prepare summaries, chronologies, and visual aids to support trial strategy., • Maintain and update case files in practice management systems such as MyCase., • Track litigation calendars, discovery deadlines, court dates, and statute-of-limitations windows., • Conduct legal and factual research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, EEOC/agency guidance, and public records databases., • Provide overflow support to team members as needed and contribute to firm-wide initiatives., • Assist in drafting firm policies, templates, and protocols to streamline employment law workflows., • 3+ years of paralegal experience in employment law (plaintiff-side preferred), • Extensive experience with federal and state employment claims (FMLA, ADA, Title VII, FLSA, etc.), • Familiarity with filing with EEOC, DOL, state civil rights commissions, and federal/state courts, • Strong writing and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to draft professional legal documents, • Expert-level understanding of litigation processes and e-discovery protocols, • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, or similar), • Must have experience with Arizona state courts, federal court practice, and electronic filing systems is required., • Exceptional time management skills and attention to detail, • Ability to manage multiple high-priority cases independently, • A proactive mindset with a “no-handholding needed” attitude, • Experience in wrongful termination, Sexual Harrassment, Wage and hour disputes, Employment discrimination and class actions Company DescriptionEssien Law Firm is a law firm with an experienced attorney in Phoenix focused exclusively on immigration law and helping you and your family achieve the American Dream.
