Job Description The Building Center, Inc. Job Title: Non-CDL Driver Reports to: Operations Manager FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt Division: Greensboro, NC Summary: Delivers complete, accurate, and on-time deliveries to the company’s customers. Represents the company in a highly professional, safe, and cost-effective manner that complies with DOT and other applicable regulations. Job Duties: • Prepares truck for operation by assisting in and overseeing the loading of truck and securing of items and by verifying the accuracy of shipping papers, • Inspects truck tires, lights, brakes, fluids, etc., to ensure safe and cost-effective performance, with preventive maintenance in mind, • Delivers orders via the most effective route to ensure complete orders are delivered according to established timeframes and customers’ needs, • Maintains communication with company during deliveries to ensure any updated instructions are received, • Documents delivery, accuracy, and receipt of orders by the customer according to company directives and reports any discrepancies to company, • Increases customer satisfaction by collecting information and feedback on service and resolving complaints per company policy; communicates information back to company, • Informs customers of new products and services that can increase customer satisfaction and sales, • Maintains and monitors truck maintenance and driving record requirements; maintains required documents for safety, security, and quality processes, • Updates job knowledge, • Safely operates forklifts and other warehouse equipment, as required, • Maintains a safe driving record free of violations, • Performs occasional warehouse and counter duties, • Maintains proficiency in computerized systems and other technologies, as required, • Follows company policies and procedures, • Performs other duties, as assigned Qualifications & Requirements: • Superior customer service, • Professional demeanor, • Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations, • Ability to effectively communicate information to dispatch and customers, • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions, • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables, • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions, • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations, • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, • Ability to write simple correspondence Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred, but not required.
