Job DescriptionJob Title: Assembler Job Description The Assembler is responsible for completing mechanical and electrical assembly of units from start to finish, using a variety of hand and power tools. This role involves reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals to build units, lay out and assemble control panels, and install motors and panel boards. The position combines hands-on labor, basic repetitive tasks, and higher-level assembly work, including troubleshooting and repairing components, while also supporting general facility tasks such as warehouse and packaging activities. Responsibilities • Perform complete mechanical and electrical assembly of units from start to finish using a variety of hand and power tools., • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and service manuals to correctly build and wire units., • Lay out, assemble, and build control panels, including PLC and drive components, without performing programming., • Assemble conveyors, install motors, and build panel boards according to specifications and documentation., • Install wiring, electrical components such as terminals and jump fuses, and electrical panels with a focus on accuracy and safety., • Carry out both simple, basic, repetitive tasks and more complex, high-level assembly work as needed., • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components to ensure units function correctly., • Use computers for data entry, working in Excel, and interacting with various software applications to support assembly processes., • Read and understand new computer programs and software tools used in production and assembly operations., • Apply mechanical and electrical principles to understand the assembly and building process and explain the reasoning behind steps taken., • Support other tasks around the facility, including warehouse duties, packaging, and other general labor activities as required., • Follow safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and properly handle tools and equipment., • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and contribute to the success of a new assembly line.Essential Skills, • Minimum 2 years of electro-mechanical assembly experience., • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints., • Foundational understanding of mechanical and electrical principles., • Hands-on experience with basic tools, wiring, and mechanical assembly., • Proficiency using hand tools and fundamental hand and power tools safely and effectively., • Ability to lay out and build control panels, including PLCs and drives (no programming required)., • Experience assembling conveyors, installing motors, and building panel boards., • Ability to install wiring, electrical components such as terminals and jump fuses, and panels., • Computer literacy, including experience with Excel, general PC knowledge, and data entry., • Previous experience working with computer software beyond Microsoft Office and the ability to read and understand new programs., • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and describe an assembly or building process and the reasoning behind it., • Ability to perform both repetitive tasks and more complex assembly and troubleshooting work., • Willingness and physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks, not limited to a single assembly station.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical components., • Comfort working with PLC-related hardware and drive components (excluding programming)., • Ability to adapt to new tools, technologies, and processes in a production environment., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to building quality units., • Interest in a long-term role with opportunities for training and growth., • Ability to work effectively as part of a team on a new production line., • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain a clean and efficient work area.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role follows a typical schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 1-hour lunch break, with some flexibility in start time to accommodate personal needs such as childcare when possible. Work takes place in a climate-controlled assembly area and warehouse within a newer facility, providing a clean, modern, and comfortable environment. The position is hands-on and labor-focused, involving movement around the facility rather than remaining at a single assembly station all day, and uses a variety of hand and power tools as well as computer-based systems and software. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
