This position is responsible for planning major steam plant and steam distribution system maintenance activities, ensuring the work is completed safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Planner will ensure adequate tools, equipment, materials, safety supplies and spare parts are available to support maintenance activities in support of 24/7 operations. A successful candidate for this position is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates a strong commitment to deadlines and teamwork, is process-oriented with a high sense of ownership, possesses a keen intellectual curiosity, and has a solid foundation in maintenance management. Core Responsibilities • Support the maintenance and repair of infrastructure systems, such as water supply, natural gas, electrical, steam and condensate., • Plan and schedule maintenance utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance, safety audits, inventory control, small tool control, parts costs, asset management, maintenance KPI reporting, and work order assignment., • Work order planning to include create work order requests, manage and schedule work orders, assign work orders, monitor progress of work orders, generate reports, provide notification and direction for progress of work orders, provide clerical data input to work orders, close work orders., • Administer the CMMS and electronic log software., • Support the management of outside vendors and contractors., • Coordinates ordering and scheduling with vendors and suppliers., • Support or oversee major and minor renovation, renewal, and capital projects., • Work closely with project managers to assist with project controls including schedules, purchase orders, invoices, field reports and documentation control and scope of work., • May be required to travel for training and/or other company business. This includes travel by private automobile, commercial airlines, and other public transportation., • Effectively interface with regulatory, business and customer representatives consistent with CenTrio corporate objectives., • Review and comment on drawings and specifications., • Read pressure and temperature gauges, thermometers and various types of flow or condensate meters., • Complete maintenance work orders utilizing a computerized maintenance management system., • Plan maintenance work orders without input from supervisor or manager., • Ensures that maintenance activities generally conform to fiscal, budgetary, planning objectives and assist with the development of budgets and/or capital planning., • May be required to operate company equipment (e.g. forklift), • Work with SDOT, WSDOT, Sound Transit, Metro, etc. to apply for and coordinate necessary street use permits, traffic control plans, necessary releases related to project work., • Attend weekly utility coordination meetings., • May be required to support on-call weekend duty rotation., • May be required to perform other duties and projects as directed. Professional Experience & Knowledge: • Experience working with district energy systems preferred, • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred, • Budget preparation and fiscal management knowledge, • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment, • Experience with project planning, • Knowledge of utility business practices, methods, and procedures, • Ability to analyze expenditures for compliance with budget provisions, • Ability to manage and supervise renovation, renewal, and capital projects, • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures., • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities, • Skilled in capital, operations, and maintenance planning Technical Skills & Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of maintenance planner experience or seven years maintenance planner experience, • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems, with reference to work orders, preventive maintenance, inventory control, and equipment history, • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Physical Requirements: • Must be able to work in tight spaces and elevated positions: twisting, turning, bending, and holding arms at / above the head are all common movements; able to lift up to 100lbs;, • Must be able to clearly see and differentiate all colors, • Must be able to maintain standard threshold of hearing to safely perform job duties, • Must have good eyesight, hearing and manual dexterity, • Wear all types of PPE including hearing protection, eye protection, all types of hand protection, steel toe footwear, head protection, wear fall-protection, half-face and full-face respirators Conditions of Employment: • Successful completion of Criminal Background Check and Drug Test, • Only authorized employees are permitted to use company vehicles, this includes Industrial trucks (forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.) and electric vehicles/golf carts. To be an authorized employee, you must be at least 21 years old, hold a current valid Washington Drivers' license and demonstrate a clean driving record. The driver must be on an approved list for company insurance purposes.
