SUMMARY: The Senior Video Editor plays a pivotal role in the post-production process, assembling recorded raw material—including camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics, and special effects—into a polished, broadcast-ready final product that aligns with the creative vision and network standards. This individual must possess exceptional technical expertise, editorial judgment, and storytelling ability, while collaborating closely with producers and other creative stakeholders to deliver high-quality content efficiently and on deadline. In addition to traditional post workflows, this role embraces modern content creation methods, including mobile and social media platforms. WHO YOU ARE: You are a creative and detail-oriented video editor with a passion for visual storytelling. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable taking projects from concept to final cut. You’re skilled in Adobe Suite and you have a sharp eye for pacing, composition, and rhythm. You’re not just about cutting clips—you think in storyboards and transitions, and you understand how editing can shape mood, build tension, and drive engagement. You're collaborative by nature, open to feedback, and able to adapt your style to match a brand’s tone and message. Whether working with a script or building something from scratch, you're committed to delivering polished, impactful content that resonates. Bonus points if you have experience with motion graphics, color grading, or sound design. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Editing & Assembly: Use professional editing software, Adobe Suite, to transform raw footage into compelling, visually cohesive sequences that align with the project’s goals and client or network requirements., • Enhancing Visuals & Audio: Apply color correction, grading, motion graphics, sound editing, and effects to elevate the viewer’s experience. Edit and mix audio to ensure clarity, consistency, and impact., • iPhone & Mobile Production Integration: Work with footage captured on iPhone and other mobile devices, ensuring seamless integration with professional content and maintaining broadcast-level quality., • Creative Storytelling: Evaluate and select scenes for dramatic or entertainment qualities, ensuring story continuity and emotional impact through thoughtful pacing and sequencing., • Content Creation: Contribute to original short-form content development for digital and social platforms, supporting marketing and promotional initiatives., • Collaboration: Partner with producers, audio engineers, and other postproduction team members from concept through final delivery to ensure creative alignment., • Editorial Excellence: Implement solutions with strong editorial judgment, requiring minimal redirection, and contribute innovative editing approaches that enhance the network’s visual identity., • File & Project Management: Organize and manage project assets efficiently, following proper labeling, storage, and backup procedures., • Quality Control: Conduct thorough reviews of all deliverables to ensure they meet technical specifications, visual standards, and distribution requirements across multiple platforms., • Innovation & Growth: Continuously discover, evaluate, and integrate new editing technologies, mobile capture tools, workflows, and industry best practices to improve speed, quality, and creative output. A strong grasp of AI tools in video postproduction workflows., • Technology: Keep updated on knowledge of industry technology and help establish new workflows to create accurate and effective results on specific or future assignments. Must have the ability to train and learn new techniques/software platforms that align with industry needs and trends. SKILLS • Oral & Written Communications: Exceptional written, and oral communication skills. Communicates well one on one, in small groups and larger presentations, including external public speaking. Writes clear, precise, well-organized documents using appropriate vocabulary, grammar, and wording, • Judgment and Decision Making: Consistent logic, rationality, and objectivity in decision-making. Neither indecisive nor hip-shooter. Generates sensible, realistic, practical solutions to problems. Exhibits a high level of integrity, earning the trust of coworkers and putting organization and team above self-interests; High level of editorial judgment, creativity, and attention to detail., • Problem Solving and Analysis: Identifies significant problems and opportunities. Analyzes problems in depth and achieves effective resolution. Determines root causes for issues and solves for them, striving for continuous improvement., • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team; experience working with cross-functional teams. Ability to mentor and support junior editors as needed. To perform this job successfully, in addition to the skills noted above an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and the following: · Advanced proficiency in non-linear editing platforms and post-production workflows. · Knowledge of iPhone and mobile camera production techniques, including best practices for capture, framing, and integration into professional projects. · Strong understanding of content creation for digital and social media platforms. · Strong technical knowledge of video and audio signal monitoring for multi-platform distribution and quality control. · Demonstrated expertise in color correction, motion graphics integration, and audio mixing. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: · Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Telecommunications, Mass Communications, or related field (or equivalent professional experience). · 5–10 years of professional editing experience in a post-production house and/or broadcast network environment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Position may manage a direct report. OTHER: This is a hybrid job role, with a combination of telecommuting workdays and in-office workdays.
