Job Description Director of Human Resources Mobile, AL 36693 Position Overview The Director of Human Resources (HR) at Genesis Technical & Industrial Staffing leads all human resources functions nationwide. This role is responsible for driving compliance, mitigating risk, and fostering a strong, values-driven culture across all divisions — Industrial and Technical. This individual must possess deep knowledge of staffing industry operations, including workers’ compensation codes, multi-state labor laws, and employment compliance for both short- and long-term contract assignments. The Director of HR will ensure Genesis’s people, policies, and processes protect the company while supporting operational growth. Key Responsibilities Strategic HR Leadership · Lead the development and execution of HR strategies that support Genesis’s business goals, service divisions, and growth initiatives. · Act as a strategic advisor to the executive team and department heads on all HR-related matters. · Align HR policies and programs to ensure consistent treatment of both internal employees and contract workers. · Oversee HR operations across multiple branch offices and client locations, ensuring consistent communication and compliance. Compliance & Risk Management · Maintain full compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws, including FMLA, ADA, EEOC, OSHA, I-9, and wage & hour regulations. · Manage risk prevention programs for both internal and external employees, including proper classification, onboarding documentation, and client-site safety requirements. · Oversee workers’ compensation administration, ensuring correct workers’ comp code usage by job type, timely claims management, and coordination with insurance carriers and client safety teams. · Conduct audits and ensure records, contracts, and employment files are accurate and complete for all employee types. · Investigate employee relations issues for both internal staff and contractors; prepare documentation, corrective actions, and resolutions. Contractor & Employee Oversight · Manage HR support for contractors, field employees, and project workers placed through Genesis, ensuring all placements meet compliance, safety, and onboarding requirements. · Collaborate with recruiting and operations to ensure consistent application of onboarding standards (drug testing, background checks, client-specific orientation, etc.). · Partner with client companies on employee-related matters, such as safety violations, performance, and policy adherence. · Lead initiatives to reduce turnover, improve engagement, and ensure positive experiences for all field employees. Employee Relations & Culture · Oversee employee relations for internal staff, ensuring fair, consistent, and legal management of employee concerns. · Support leadership in fostering a positive culture rooted in Genesis’s values of integrity, accountability, and teamwork. · Ensure transparent communication and cohesive HR support across all locations. Training, Safety, and Development · Oversee internal and contractor training programs (HR compliance, safety awareness, harassment prevention, management development). · Partner with safety leadership and client representatives to ensure Genesis contractors meet all site-specific training and certification requirements. · Develop leadership training for internal managers and supervisors. Benefits, Compensation, and HR Systems · Manage benefits and payroll programs for internal and external employees in collaboration with Finance and Operations. · Oversee the HRIS and ensure accurate data management for both internal and field employees. · Recommend competitive compensation strategies aligned with market data and client requirements. Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s preferred. · SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification required. · Minimum 10+ years of progressive HR experience (leadership in the staffing or workforce solutions industry preferred). · Experience overseeing HR operations for both internal staff and contract/temporary employees. · Proven expertise in risk management, workers’ compensation, and multi-state employment law compliance. · Strong knowledge of OSHA, EEOC, DOL, and industry-specific safety requirements. · Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to influence across all levels. · Proficiency with HRIS, ATS, and Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Competencies · Experience managing HR for a multi-division staffing firm (technical and industrial). · Strong understanding of client-site dynamics, contractor engagement, and compliance tracking. · Analytical and detail-oriented with a proactive approach to preventing issues before they arise. · Demonstrated ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational management.
