Job DescriptionJob Title: Structural Specialist - Welder/FitterPay Range: $29.25 - $31.00Location: Mobile, ALJob Description:The Structural Specialist is a senior craft responsible for leading and performing complex shipfitting, steel fabrication, and repair work. This role requires advanced technical expertise in shipfitting, welding, blueprint interpretation, and scheduling. The Specialist may work independently or lead teams, support training, ensure safety and quality compliance, and contribute to productivity and continuous improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities: • Perform structural, shipfitting, steel fabrication, repair, and installation tasks., • Lead work tasks or crews, providing technical and safety guidance., • Train and mentor craft employees on-the-job., • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work to meet quality, productivity, and safety goals., • Collaborate with other crafts and customers for successful job execution., • Maintain safe practices, housekeeping, and compliance with regulations., • Access and work across vessels, piers, docks, and facility sites., • Provide technical leadership and support planning in accordance with procedures. HSEQ Responsibilities:, • Ensure compliance with Management System and ISO 9001:2015 standards., • Participate in Job Safety & Environmental Analyses, hazard recognition, and inspections., • Report incidents and near-misses promptly., • Maintain safety certifications and adhere to regulations., • Support continual improvement and exercise authority to stop unsafe work. Qualifications & Skills:, • Advanced shipfitting, steel measurement, fitting, fabrication, and welding expertise (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW)., • Proficient in blueprint reading, layouts, technical documents, and isometric drawings., • Knowledge of shipyard and steel fabrication equipment, metric conversions, and welding procedures., • Experience leading teams, training employees, and managing tools, equipment, and schedules., • Ability to execute work while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity., • Mathematical skills for structural fabrication and ability to interpret written, oral, and diagram-based instructions., • Ability to qualify on manlifts, forklifts, and gantry cranes.
