(NRSS) is seeking a District Manager - Training & Safety to support field services for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, State DOT's, as well as Railroad Suppliers, Contractors, and Consultants alike. Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Railroad Engineering, Railroad Design, Railroad Construction, Communication and/or Education (Preferred). Equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience. Required Experience: Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in Railroad Engineering, Railroad Design, Railroad Construction, Communication and/or Education (Class 1 Preferred). Key Success Factors: • Accountability: Accept full responsibility for self and contribution as a team member., • Adaptability & Flexibility: Ability to consider a variety of issues that exist in the work place and change from one task to another as necessary., • Attention to Detail: Ability to work in a conscientious, consistent, thorough manner, and attend to details while pursuing quality when accomplishing tasks., • Communication: Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to employees/clients in a clear and succinct manner., • Customer Service Focus: Ability to provide service excellence to internal and/or external clients., • Decision Making: Ability to identify/understand issues, problems, opportunities and take appropriate action based on available facts, constraints, and probable consequences., • Innovativeness: Ability to devise new plans for quality excellence., • Knowledge: Ability to navigate various rulebooks and demonstrate mastery., • Organization: Ability to maintain training materials and/or records in a clean and ordered manner., • Stress Tolerance: Ability to maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition (such as time pressure or job ambiguity)., • Teamwork: Promote cooperation and commitment within a team environment to achieve goals and deliverables., • Proven experience as a Manager, Regional Manager, and/or District Manager., • Highly organized with ability to manage high volume of calls and emails., • Proven experience as an instructor in both classroom and field training., • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office products and other applicable software., • High level of accuracy and attention to detail required; well organized., • Strong technical writing ability., • Strong technical knowledge in Railroad Engineering, Railroad Design, Railroad Construction, and Safety., • Demonstrated team building and verbal/oral skills., • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships., • Direct, develop, and evaluate projects using accepted project management methodologies., • Develop criteria for evaluating programs, schedules, and other pertinent information related to project assignments., • Develop project schedules, work plans, resource requirements, cost estimates, and projections., • Monitor and manage project quality to ensure project deliverables are acceptable and fulfill the terms of the project contract and/or specifications., • Identify potential project risks and difficulties and design strategies to mitigate or avoid them., • Compile and distribute project information, status reports, and project expenditures., • Create documentation procedures to capture and deal with changes in original project plan., • Monitor and manage employee overtime and expenses., • Provide various technical classroom training programs., • Maintains positive business relationships with current clients., • Grow the department by executing business to business visits., • Provide various technical on the job training programs., • Provide quality instruction and maintain quality records for internal and/or external clients., • Direct, develop, and evaluate training materials using accepted railroad industry methodologies., • Foster service excellence through document creation, conference calls, auditing, etc., • Manage staff and activities for projects varying in size and complexity and coordinate schedule, procedures, and resources needed to accomplish project objectives., • Establish work plans and staffing for each phase of project and arrange for recruitment and/or assignment of project personnel as required., • Communicate with executives and recommend project alternatives and/or schedule changes., • Manage all aspects of the entire project life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close)., • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required., • Prepare project reports for management, client, and/or others., • Effectively lead and coordinate the activities of the team., • Develop and maintain strong client relationships., • Identify and manage tasks as assigned.
