This Role Cristo Rey Orlando High School is seeking a dedicated and professional Substitute Teacher to support our 9th-grade students and ensure continuity of learning when regular teachers are absent. This individual will supervise and guide students, implement lesson plans provided by faculty, and maintain a safe, respectful, and structured classroom environment. This role requires someone who is patient, dependable, and able to quickly adapt to a variety of classroom settings and student needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management skills, a willingness to work with students from underserved and diverse backgrounds, and a basic understanding of educational technology used in todays classrooms. Key Responsibilities: • Supervise students and maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment in the absence of the regular teacher, • Follow lesson plans provided by teachers and ensure instruction continues with minimal disruption, • Support student learning and engagement through positive reinforcement and clear expectations, • Manage classroom behavior professionally and consistently, • Take attendance and submit reports as required, • Use basic classroom technology tools such as Canvas, PowerSchool, Chromebooks, and interactive displays (e.g., BenQ board), • Communicate respectfully with students, faculty, and staff, • Report any serious incidents or concerns to school leadership, • Perform other duties and support special projects as assigned by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal Required Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements below represent knowledge, skills, and/or ability: • A minimum of an Associate Degree is required, • Over the age of 21, • Must successfully pass the Safe Environment Training and Background Screening process as required, • Preference will be given to candidates with a degree and/or training in education or a related field., • Demonstrated ability to manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment effectively, • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff, • Ability to understand and follow instructions, including detailed lesson plans, • Flexibility and adaptability to different classroom environments and subject matter, • Reliability and punctuality in responding to assignment requests and reporting for duty, • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including email communication and attendance reporting ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Communication and Availability: Responds promptly to cell phone, text, or email communications from the Dean of Students regarding availability for substitute assignments., • Reporting and Preparation: Reports to CRO on the day of the assignment by 6:50 am or at the time designated. Collects the daily schedule, lesson plans, and any necessary keys for the substitute assignment. Check out a laptop as needed for attendance reporting and proceeds to the assigned classroom., • Homeroom Responsibilities: Conducts homeroom activities as necessary, including taking attendance, leading prayer, and the Pledge of Allegiance., • Instruction and Classroom Management: Follows the instructions outlined in the lesson plans and collects student assignments as directed. Administers tests and quizzes and maintains classroom order and a positive learning environment., • Policy Adherence: Adheres to all CRO policies and procedures., • Lesson Plan Implementation: Executes the provided lesson plans to ensure students remain engaged in learning activities., • Student Work Management: Collects student assignments as directed by the lesson plans., • Assessment Administration: Administers tests and quizzes following the teacher's instructions., • Classroom Order: Maintains a disciplined and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning., • Student Conduct: This position monitors student behavior and appearance and issues Uniform Violation Notices or Referrals as necessary, following school policy., • School Events: Attends Liturgies or Campus-wide gatherings as directed by the school administration., • End-of-Day Procedures: At the end of the day, the teacher remains in the designated classroom until all students have been dismissed., • Feedback: Creates concise and informative reports regarding student participation, behavior, and assignment progress for the students' permanent teacher.
