Job Title: Service Technician Reports To: Service Technician Leads and/ or Project Coordinator Summary: The Vanguard Security Service Technician is responsible for the upgrading, retrofitting, installation, maintenance, and repair of security systems, including keyless access control systems, outdoor detection systems, camera systems, and alarm systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of security systems and their components, and be able to seek guidance, have a willingness to learn and develop their skills with on the job learning, working independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities: * Installs, maintains, dismantles and repairs keyless access control systems, including keypads, card readers, and biometric readers. * Integrates outdoor detection systems with security lighting and audible deterrents. * Makes connections and adjustments as directed; tests operation of all components. * Services, upgrades & Install/ maintain HD and surveillance camera systems. * Integrates alarm systems with centralized home-automation systems. * Services upgrades and installs technology that will alert video monitoring agents during real-time events. * Familiar with blueprints, schematics, and manuals to determine installation procedures, seeking assistance for complex specifications. * Interprets manuals and wiring diagrams, repairs equipment using electronics knowledge and standard tools. * Identifies project risks, communicates with relevant parties, and assists in developing strategies to minimize impact. * Works closely with technician leads, arrives onsite on time with the necessary tools and plans as directed by the project coordinator. * Seeks ways to improve customer satisfaction. * Installs and services low voltage systems per Vanguard Security standards, the National Electric Code, and manufacturer’s instructions. * Assists senior personnel with complex systems. * Communicates work progress according to accepted procedures. * Evaluates job information, materials, and layout for practical installation routes. * Reports defective materials or inaccuracies that may affect customer safety. * Safeguards against loss of materials and tools on-site. * Cleans up debris, patches drill holes, and returns unused materials. Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and walking for extended periods. * Ability to operate storage unit equipment safely and efficiently. * Regular walking and standing for long periods of time on concrete, metal and grated surfaces * Responsibilities may require crouching, stepping over, crawling under, bending, twisting, climbing and reaching above head and shoulders repeatedly throughout the day * Responsibilities may require climbing flights of stairs, working from heights or on elevated platforms * Ability to wear assigned PPE (safety shoes, gloves, facemask, hearing protection and hard hat) * Established dexterity so you can handle materials, operate equipment and interface with computer systems with precision * Subject to loud and constant noise * The position is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions inc. non-environmentally conditioned spaces which may lead to extreme hot and cold * Required to climb ladders throughout shift using proper fall protection. * Wearing appropriate attire and footwear that provides comfort and support while driving, bending, stooping, climbing and lifting. * Must be able to hear with specific vision abilities which include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Qualifications and Requirements * High school diploma or equivalent. * A sound understanding and interest in security systems and their components. * A willingness to learn, a confidence in asking questions, taking direction and carrying learning from site to site * ELK Security system, Verkada , DSC (Digital Securtiy Control) * 2N Access Control, OpenPath Security, ICT (integrated control technology) * Handle all aspects of internal networking, including WIFI, cable patching and network diagramming. * A positive ‘can do’ attitude and an ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Able to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as clients and their representatives. * Excellent communication and customer service skills. * Basic Electrical and Mechanical knowledge * ***MUST be willing to use your own reliable vehicle that can hold a 6 foot ladder * Maintain proper dress code and appearance. * Possess a valid driver’s license and have own reliable vehicle * Be able to pass an extensive background check and drug screening process. * Able to obtain NICET I Certification. This position is on site everyday, you will be at customer sites 5 days a week in the following areas; Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood, Hollywood, Malibu, Sherman Oaks and beyond.
