Job DescriptionJOB TITLE: CNC M/S Programmer II PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: The CNC Programmer II is responsible for developing, optimizing, and releasing CNC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers in a production-driven environment. This role ensures programs are accurate, efficient, repeatable, and aligned with estimated cycle times while supporting continuous improvement and throughput objectives. This position serves as a technical resource to operators and leadership, bridging engineering intent with shop floor execution through clear setup documentation, fixture strategy, and program validation. CORE VALUES: The following list of Core Values and Behaviors are necessary to meet the minimum requirements: TEAMWORK · Help each other succeed · Communicate clearly and directly, listen well · Encourage teammates · Blameless problem solving HONESTY AND INTEGRITY · Honor your commitments · Do the right thing · Consistent in your attitudes and actions LEAN · Improve processes · Open to new ideas · Share information, and teach · Expose issues NUMBERS FOCUSED · Deliver results · Analyze data for improvement · Take ownership and accountability · Work smarter, not harder EXCELLENCE · Exhibit passion in serving customers · Contribute solutions · Sense of urgency · Be the best at what you do · Seek knowledge FUN · Be positive · Celebrate achievements · Don’t take yourself too seriously CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES: Essential • CNC Programming & Optimization (3–5 Axis) • Develop CNC programs that meet or exceed estimated cycle times, • Program 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers (including 3+2 and simultaneous 5-axis where applicable), • Select proper tooling, feeds, speeds, workholding, and cutting strategy, • Generate fixture programs (soft jaws, fixture plates, tombstones, etc.), • Validate programs through simulation and structured prove-out process, • Utilize probing, work coordinate automation, in-process inspection, and tool life management, • Demonstrate measurable improvements in cycle time, tool life, and set-up reduction • Setup Documentation & Communication • Generate detailed setup sheets including: • Tool lists, • Workholding strategy, • Critical dimensions, • Inspection checkpoints • Maintain accurate archive of all programs and setup documentation, • Ensure repeatability and error-proof processes • Production Support • Assist production during program prove-out, • Support operators during initial production runs, • Conduct process audits to ensure adherence to documented procedures, • Provide accurate time studies and production estimates when required, • Use dispatch list to prioritize programming workload • Process Improvement & ISO Compliance • Support ISO 9001 system requirements in accordance with Quality Manual, • Identify opportunities for improved cycle time, reduced setups, and higher spindle utilization, • Show verifiable proof that programs, tooling, fixturing, and machine capabilities are being maximized, • Participate in root cause analysis for machining-related defects • Cross-Functional Collaboration • Coordinate programming needs with Supervisor and Production Manager, • Interface professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams, • Support fixture design improvements and manufacturability discussions • Shop Participation • Expected to work approximately 70% office / programming and 30% production floor, • Remain familiar with all CNC equipment in the shop, • Support machining operations when required • Keep work area clean and organized WORKS WITH: Customers, outside venders, and Future Form Team Members SAFETY REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Follow all OSHA safety regulations and those set by Future Form Manufacturing REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Essential • Minimum four (4) years CNC machining experience, • Minimum two (2) years CNC Mill and/or Lathe programming experience, • Experience programming 3-axis and 4-axis equipment, • Exposure to or experience programming 5-axis machining centers, • Strong proficiency in CAM software (SolidCam preferred or equivalent), • Strong understanding of:, • GD&T, • Blueprint interpretation, • Advanced tooling strategies, • Workholding concepts, • Ability to independently program, validate, and release jobs to production, • Strong mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, • Strong problem-solving and analytical ability, • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail, • Ability to coach and train operators, • Must have own tools, • Must complete 95% of competency examinationBeneficial • Experience with 5-axis programming (3+2 or simultaneous), • Experience with high-mix, production manufacturing, • Fixture design experience, • CAD experience, • Vocational or technical training in machining or metallurgy, • Experience with ERP/MRP systems PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Sit 5%, Stand 10%, Walk 71%, Bend 5%, Lift 5%, Reach Above Shoulder 2%, Drive 2%. Maximum (minutes based upon an 8 hour day): Sit 24, Stand 48, Walk 340, Bend 24, Lift 24, Reach Above Shoulder 10, Drive 10. Position requires normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and normal hearing (with or without corrective hearing aids). Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Must have normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and hearing (with or without corrective hearing aids). Working Environment: Shop and office environment with noise levels ranging from light to moderate. Exposure to dust, heat and cold. This position requires drug testing per company policy. Mon - Thurs 5:00am - 3:30pm
