Job Description Municipal Bond Trader As a Municipal Bond Trader, you will be responsible for trading (buying/selling) municipal bonds within assigned limits and generate sales commissions and trading revenue. You will be responsible for marketing municipal bonds to the retail branch network by disseminating product and market information, and by following-up on the merchandising of available securities. Trader will work with the institutional sales force through direct, electronic and telephonic communication . What will you do? • Trading and Execution: Responsible for bidding and purchasing municipal securities for inventory positions, creating sales credit and trading revenues, and managing associated risk of those positions. Evaluate information related to financial markets and quickly and accurately assess market risk in order to receive the best possible price. Access and manage risk within assigned limits for inventory books., • Idea Generation : Develop and distribute ideas on current market conditions and communicate them in a creative and timely fashion to the sales force., • Collaboration: Work closely with the institutional sales force. Must be a team player willing to provide back-up for the senior trader and jump in as business needs arise. Must-have • Bachelor's Degree, or the ability to demonstrate experience or academic achievement in related fields such as Economics, Finance, or Mathematics, or equivalent work experience, • 2-5 years of experience working on a fixed income trading desk or marketing products and ideas to financial advisors, • Demonstrated knowledge of fixed income markets, economics, marketing strategies, and other fixed income instruments, • Strong math skills essential for quantitative analysis and modeling., • Proficient with Bloomberg and other investment software packages, • Proficiency with Tradeweb and other ECNs is a plus, • Series 7 & 63 licenses, • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, • Ability to perform varied tasks from multiple sources., • Ability to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment., • Ability to quickly assess situations, react to market/economic conditions and offer creative solutions and opportunities., • Ability to prioritize while under pressure., • Good marketing skills.
