American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Charlotte, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 05/18/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: May 18, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Work setting is a 207-bed non-teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation, • Assigned to the 5N Surgical Telemetry unit, a 26-bed floor, • Patient population includes general medical telemetry overflow and surgical patients such as bariatric, urology, post-op, abdominal (GI bleed, small bowel obstruction), and foot/ankle surgery cases, • RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6, with critical surge ratios up to 1:7–8, • CNA support ratio is 1:6–12, • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week, • Every other weekend rotation required, • No on-call responsibilities, • EMR is Epic, • IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips, • Floating is required to all units within scope at this facility and to other facilities within the assigned regional division, as needed — candidates who are not agreeable to multi-facility floating should not apply, • 13-week contractRequirements, • Active NC or compact RN license required, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • General Med/Tele skillset required, including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, PCA pumps), • Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF required, • Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted, • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration, • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RNAdditional Information, • Candidates will be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation, • Orientation includes facility-level (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation, • Department support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team (11 AM–7 PM and 11 PM–7 AM), Resource Nurse (as staffing allows), Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and Intensivist coverage in-house until 11 PM weekdays and 7 PM on weekends, • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays, • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, • Schedule cycles run every 6 weeks, • Required scrub color is navy, • Free parking is available on-site, • First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
