Ardelle Associates is seeking a Paralegal with extensive experience in Microsoft Suite to support the United States Attorney's (USAO) office in Greensboro, NC. . DUTIES • Examines, prepares, and processes a variety of technical legal documents that are characteristically voluminous and complex in format., • Reviews incoming material and independently determines the need for assembly and preparation of a variety of legal documents, e.g., complaints, motions, orders, answers, pleadings, subpoenas, warrants, etc., • Obtains needed information from files, law enforcement agencies, courts, and other sources, and submits completed legal documents in limited cases, directly to the court., • With limited instructions prepares legal documents such as indictments, criminal and/or civil complaints and motions, search warrants, seizure warrants, judgments, garnishments, applications, notices, affidavits, summonses, grand jury and deposition subpoenas, orders to show cause, satisfactions of judgment, proofs of claim, and a variety of other recurring legal documents and pleadings in conformance with the rulesgoverning their style and format., • Provides assistance during trial preparation by independently compiling trial notebooks, assembling jury instructions, compiling witness and exhibit lists, and any other tasks that may be deemed necessary., • Utilizes original and online legal resources, verifies citations and statutory references contained in legal documents and ensures citations are complete and consistent with source material., • Prepares tables of contents and indices to briefs in accordance with established format. Lists properly formatted citations, opinions, and miscellaneous references in briefs., • Composes original letters that do not require legal interpretations but do require a solid working knowledge of legal procedures and specialized terminology, e.g., transmittal of pleadings, requests for extensions of time in certain cases, advising of actions taken or developments in cases referred by other federal departments and agencies, and notices to attorneys representing defendants., • Establishes and maintains a variety of files. Searches legal reference files for information needed in conducting interviews and preparing correspondence. Assembles exhibits, affidavits, and other legal documents from file material. Separates, screens, selects, assembles, and organizes files and records material for disposition or transfer to records depository in accordance with established office procedures., • Performs docketing duties such as opening, updating, and closing cases through use of an automated case tracking system and, as necessary, searches database for required information., • Maintains calendar of assigned active cases. Tracks filing, hearing, trial dates, scheduling conferences, and interviews. Develops and maintains suspense system for ongoing cases pending dates and deadlines. Maintains calendar for the Attorneys, scheduling appointments, interviews, and conferences, and provides reminders of commitments and court appearances., • High School Diploma, or equivalent, • Two (2) years paralegal experience, • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Professional. Must be able to integrate output from different software types, such as to be able to take tables, charts, and graphs produced by database applications and electronic spreadsheets and incorporate them into word processing or desktop publishing text.Be proficient in word processing, document management and review, file management systems, and data entry, • Proficiency with office technology, including but not limited to computers, fax machines, and copier machines, • Proficiency in organizational skills and the ability to multitask assignments. Must be able to meet established deadlines, review a wide variety of documents, both legal and non-legal, including motions, briefs, and a varietyof other legal documents.
