Job Description Hi! Tech is looking for a personable, sharp, energetic, creative, highly motivated, and results-oriented Wireless Network Engineer to join our team. Key Responsibilities: Technical Support & Troubleshooting • Serving as an initial point of contact for wireless connectivity and performance issues, performing initial troubleshooting, and escalating to more experienced team members when necessary., • Providing exceptional technical support to end-users, addressing wireless client hardware, software, and connectivity issues promptly and effectively., • Diligently documenting, tracking, and following up on support issues to ensure timely resolution., • Assisting in analyzing existing wireless technology-related pain points and learning to provide effective and budget-conscious recommendations to clients' leadership teams under guidance., • Striving for ego-less, excellent communication with clients and team members., • Assisting with the support of various small and large wireless network projects for internal and customer environments., • Learning to maintain wireless network environments by helping with analysis, planning, and testing across various 802.11 standards (b/g/n/ac/ax), with exposure to WLANs, WAPs, wireless controllers, and RF management under supervision., • Assisting with the implementation of wireless security best practices, including 802.1X/RADIUS authentication, WPA3-Enterprise encryption, and guest network segmentation., • Assisting with racking network hardware and mounting wireless access points in a clean, organized manner, labeling all cables for later identification., • Supporting the design and implementation of wireless network projects, assisting with predictive surveys and post-deployment validation, and learning industry best practices for implementing high-density WiFi solutions., • Working closely with the IT Team to assist in developing, testing, documenting, and configuring Clients' wireless networks., • Assisting in monitoring client wireless networks to identify areas for performance improvement, gaining exposure to enterprise tools such as the Cisco Meraki Dashboard, and Ekahau Suite., • Actively learning about new wireless technologies to understand how they can improve the effectiveness and efficiency of networks., • Assisting with managing relationships with various third-party providers (e.g., Cisco / Cisco Meraki, Ubiquiti, Ekahau, Tailscale) and learning about vendor engagement., • Providing detailed, accurate, and timely reporting of work completed for client deliverables., • Maintaining clear and accurate documentation of wireless networks, processes, procedures, knowledge base articles, and troubleshooting guides., • Learning to create technical drawings, including AP placement maps and rack plans for new and updated wireless deployments., • Learning to create low-voltage plans, including developing detailed spreadsheets that list each cable drop for access points and contributing to overhead drawings illustrating appropriate cable pathways., • Competitive pay, • Generous paid time off, • Full benefits packages (medical, dental, vision, 401K, and life insurance), • Opportunities for growth, • Believes in consistent professional development and growth, and is well-versed in all things networking and IT-related, with a wide breadth of knowledge across software, hardware, networking, and security disciplines, • Has an outstanding work ethic with a passion for helping others and creating an outstanding end-user experience; actively listens and effectively articulates complex ideas with customers, vendors, and team members both on-site and remotely, • Operates with a team-oriented mindset and egoless approach to support, • 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting and configuring wireless network environments, with exposure to some of the following platforms:, • Cisco Meraki Dashboard, • Ubiquiti UniFi, • Aruba Central, • Ekahau Suite, • 1-3 years of experience in IT support with a demonstrated focus on wireless networking, or an equivalent combination of education and foundational certifications., • Proven knowledge of 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be and wireless architecture, • Experience with wireless packet capture/analysis (Wireshark, AirPCAP), • Must be able to assist in full lifecycle wireless network deployments, from assessment and design through implementation and support., • Deliver detailed assessment reports, identify gaps, and recommend improvements in client environments., • Produce high-quality technical documentation for clients., • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs) and foundational wireless concepts (RF principles, 802.11 standards, SSIDs, WPA2/WPA3)., • Familiarity with network security principles, particularly in a wireless context (e.g., guest network isolation, RADIUS/802.1X)., • Preferred certifications include:, • CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator), • Network+, • Security+, • Familiarity with wireless troubleshooting and monitoring tools (e.g., WiFi analyzers, packet capture software)., • Experience supporting a variety of client devices, particularly Apple products (macOS, iOS) and common business productivity suites like Google Workspace., • Strong troubleshooting skills and a logical approach to problem-solving., • Excellent administrative and communication skills with a keen attention to detail., • Ability to explain complex technical ideas to a non-technical audience., • Proven ability to manage multiple competing tasks effectively., • Dedication to deep-diving into research to find solutions when faced with unfamiliar technical hurdles., • Proactive, can-do attitude with a strong sense of care and urgency., • A passion for helping others and creating an outstanding end-user experience., • A team-oriented mindset and an egoless approach to support., • Trustworthy and able to maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive client data., • Ability to effectively and accurately use a tape measure, hand tools, and a power drill, and be comfortable on a ladder or in tight spaces., • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.Company DescriptionFriendly technologists providing tailored solutions for your business.
