American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Wilmington, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 11/10/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a hospital-based Medical Surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients, • Shift consists of 12-hour nights, with both 36 and 48 hour workweeks accepted, • Patient ratios are typically 1:6-7, • Expect to manage insulin drips, heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high-flow oxygen, • Occasional need to care for patients requiring short-term BiPap respiratory support, • Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management, • Floating to similar units and alternate care locations within the hospital as needed, • Charge nurse duties are required on the night shift, • Assigned to every other weekend and required to work major holidays, • Possibility of caring for COVID patients, • Participation in the Inclement Weather Team and Storm/Hurricane Team is required, • Provide comprehensive nursing care to general Med/Surg adult and geriatric patients, • Daily census is approximately 43 patients, • Unit orientation is provided and lasts 24 hours, • Navy scrubs are required for this position, • No more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed, excluding holidays, and no RTO may be taken during the first week of the contract, • Candidates must work at least 2 out of the 3 major holidays, • Past employees of the health system must wait at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments, • Compliance with inclement weather and mass casualty team protocols is mandatory, • Local candidates are accepted, and those living within 50 miles receive a local pay rate\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NC or compact RN license required at time of start; pending license acceptable for consideration, • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience, • BCLS certification required, • EPIC charting experience required, • Must be able to manage insulin and heparin drips, • Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start, • First-time travelers are accepted for this unit, • References from two managers or supervisors within the last 12 months highly preferred at start\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
