Job DescriptionCustom Truck One Source (CTOS) 6177 South Bay Road, Cicero, NY 13039 Field-based role serving the Greater Syracuse, NY area Your day on the road You start your morning by rolling out in a CTOS-provided utility service truck—outfitted with a welder, a 4-ton crane, a company laptop, and a phone—headed to a customer site. By mid-morning you’re diagnosing a CAN bus issue on a digger derrick; by the afternoon you’re verifying repairs on a truck-mounted crane with a quick road test. You close the day by documenting parts, tagging cores, and lining up tomorrow’s visit to a bucket truck that needs hydraulic service. What you’ll work on • Field diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of chassis- and track-mounted aerials, digger derricks, truck-mounted cranes, hi-rail gear, and related utility equipment., • Read/interpret manuals, repair orders, and schematics; leverage a laptop for OEM service info and diagnostic software., • Perform LMI (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus (Controller Area Network) troubleshooting and repairs., • Electrical and hydraulic system fault finding and correction on utility trucks and specialty equipment., • Service both at the shop and in the field; verify work quality and conduct road tests as needed., • Complete accurate inspection reports, repair orders, timecards, and parts/labor documentation., • Tag warranty and core returns properly; communicate status and additional needs to leadership., • Follow CTOS safety practices; attend CTOS and manufacturer training, including our STEP program., • Comply with federal, state, and local environmental rules (e.g., hazardous waste handling)., • Partner with customers and internal teams to minimize downtime; travel beyond your normal coverage area when business needs arise (occasional overnight travel required). Bring these to the job, • High School diploma or GED., • ~5 years of related shop and field experience working on heavy/utility equipment., • Valid driver’s license (CDL Class B is a plus)., • Your own professional-grade mechanic’s tools., • Comfort using software for documentation and meeting schedules/deadlines. Preferred extras, • Electrical, hydraulic, welding, blueprint/schematic proficiency., • Experience with Quick Serve, DTNA, or similar diagnostic platforms., • Familiarity with DOT, ANSI, and dielectric testing.
