Location: Everett, onsite servicing Snohomish County Job Type: Independent Contractor This is a 1099 independent contractor position and does not include benefits. The Dari In-Person Interpreter is responsible for facilitating onsite communication for Limited English Proficient (LEP) community and the practitioners that serve them in a variety of settings. This contract position is flexible and an opportunity to expand your interpreting business with access to many sessions per day. • Provide effective onsite interpreting sessions in a professional manner., • Always exhibit professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness for sessions., • Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing situations., • Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context., • Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment., • Respect for and understanding of our Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients, culture, dialect and beliefs and preferences., • Strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting., • Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions., • Render exact and correct concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol., • Fluent and have strong verbal communication skills in both the source and target language (Dari to English and vice-a-versa)., • Excellent listening and retention skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation., • Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or have a national certification., • Extensive knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI and NCIHC)., • Must be at least 18 years of age., • Ability to read and write in the requested languages., • Degree or certifications in interpreting practices., • National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI or DSHS., • Accredited Medical Interpreting Training course (i.e.: ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour accredited medical courses).
