The right candidate should be able to receive the details of an oversize or overweight shipment and understand how to plan the move from beginning to end. Before a truck is dispatched, the dispatcher should be able to evaluate the cargo dimensions and weight, determine the proper equipment, understand the required axle configuration and weight distribution, and determine whether the shipment should move on a step deck, double drop/RGN, lowboy, stretch trailer, or other specialized equipment. The dispatcher must understand how trailer selection affects overall loaded height, weight distribution, axle spacing, permitting, and routing. Once the proper equipment has been determined, the dispatcher must be able to obtain and review the required permits, determine the appropriate route, and identify potential issues involving bridges, overpasses, street lights, traffic signals, utility lines, roadway restrictions, construction, and other obstacles before the truck leaves the yard. This position also requires someone who can manage a busy daily operation. The dispatcher must be comfortable coordinating approximately 10–15 trucks per day, communicating with multiple drivers and customers, adjusting schedules, handling terminal delays, and resolving unexpected issues while keeping every active load organized. A missed clearance, incorrect axle configuration, wrong trailer selection, improper permit, or incorrect route can create a serious safety and operational problem. We are looking for an experienced professional who understands these risks and knows how to properly plan and execute specialized moves. Preferred Experience Experience with the following is highly desirable: • Heavy-haul and specialized transportation, • Port drayage, • Intermodal flat racks, • Breakbulk and project cargo, • Military and government cargo, • Step decks, • Double drops / RGNs, • Lowboys, • Flatbeds, • Stretch trailers, • Multi-axle configurations, • Pilot car / escort coordination, • Route surveys, • California oversize/overweight permitting Position Details Company: LAN Logistics Inc.
