Job DescriptionJob Title: Industrial Solid Waste TechnicianJob Description The Industrial Solid Waste Technician manages the collection, segregation, labeling, organization, and staging of solid waste materials throughout a large manufacturing facility. This role focuses on maintaining safe, compliant, and well-organized waste-handling processes rather than traditional trash collection. The technician works across the facility to ensure industrial waste containers are properly separated, sealed, labeled, and staged for removal, while helping to develop and document a consistent, efficient waste-management system. Responsibilities • Walk throughout the manufacturing facility to inspect and manage industrial waste collection areas on a regular basis., • Segregate different waste streams and ensure all materials are placed in the correct containers according to established procedures., • Replace, move, and stage waste receptacles and containers for removal in a safe and efficient manner., • Package oily rags and other solid waste materials in cubic-yard boxes following proper handling guidelines., • Properly seal, label, organize, and stage boxes and containers for scheduled pickup and removal., • Inspect barrels and containers holding scrap metal to confirm they are correctly labeled, sealed, and ready for transport., • Operate a forklift and basic industrial material-handling equipment to move waste containers and materials safely., • Maintain clean, safe, and organized waste-storage areas throughout the facility., • Perform routine inspections of waste-storage locations to identify issues and ensure compliance with procedures., • Help develop a consistent labeling and organization system for waste-handling areas within the facility., • Create or document standard operating procedures for waste handling, labeling, staging, and storage., • Assist with basic chemical handling, spill cleanup, and environmental safety activities as needed., • Communicate with supervisors and other departments regarding waste removal needs and scheduling., • Use email and basic computer systems to communicate, maintain simple records, and complete required documentation., • Follow all company safety, environmental, and waste-handling procedures at all times.Essential Skills, • Forklift operating experience and the ability to safely use industrial material-handling equipment., • Experience handling waste, scrap, recyclable materials, or other non-hazardous industrial materials., • Basic understanding of chemical handling, environmental practices, or spill cleanup procedures., • Ability to read labels, follow written procedures, and complete basic documentation accurately., • Basic computer skills, including the ability to send and respond to emails., • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage tasks with limited supervision., • Strong initiative and willingness to develop and improve systems and processes., • Good work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail., • Ability to walk throughout a large facility and move or handle waste containers safely.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • HAZWOPER certification., • Experience with waste segregation, labeling, and facility organization., • Self-motivation and the ability to build and maintain an organized waste-management process.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a large manufacturing facility and involves frequent walking throughout the plant to inspect and manage waste collection areas. The schedule is Monday through Friday on first shift, typically 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for a 40-hour workweek. The position requires working in industrial areas around machinery and equipment, handling containers of solid non-hazardous industrial waste such as oily rags and scrap metal. The technician uses forklifts and basic material-handling equipment to move containers and waste materials and works in designated waste-storage locations that must be kept clean, safe, and organized. Appropriate industrial work attire and safety gear are required in accordance with facility safety procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
