Account Director Location: Remote Salary: £41,250-£47,500pa At Equity Energies, we’re redefining how businesses approach energy. We are looking for an Account Director plays a critical role in delivering strategic value to Equity Energies’ clients through a consultant-led approach, guiding them on energy, sustainability, and decarbonisation strategy. You will strengthen long-term relationships, identify growth opportunities, and ensure clients receive exceptional support across our service portfolio. While Client Managers hold primary ownership of day-to-day renewals, the Account Director focuses on commercial growth, strategic client engagement, and leadership of complex or high-value opportunities, including major renewals, cross-sells, and upsells across Equity Energies and the wider Group. This role requires strong commercial capability, sector expertise, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders, driving both client success and business performance. What You’ll Be Doing Strategic Account Leadership • Build and maintain trusted senior-level relationships, positioning Equity Energies as a consultant-led strategic partner., • Develop a detailed understanding of each client’s operational challenges, sustainability priorities, risk exposure, and long-term objectives., • Act as the senior escalation point for key accounts, ensuring proactive management of risks, opportunities, and expectations., • Bring deep energy and sustainability insight into client discussions, translating complex topics into clear, practical guidance tailored to their priorities. Commercial Growth & Sales Development • Generate new business from the existing client ecosystem through referrals, introductions, and intelligent networking., • Operate within agreed guardrails to avoid overlap with Business Development Managers., • Identify and secure in-life growth opportunities, including upselling sustainability consultancy, MY ZEERO, Bureau Services, optimisation projects, and on-site generation., • Lead commercial conversations for high-value and strategic renewals, with Client Managers managing day-to-day renewal activity Strategic Account Leadership • Build and maintain trusted senior-level relationships, positioning Equity Energies as a consultant-led strategic partner., • Develop a detailed understanding of each client’s operational challenges, sustainability priorities, risk exposure, and long-term objectives., • Act as the senior escalation point for key accounts, ensuring proactive management of risks, opportunities, and expectations., • Bring deep energy and sustainability insight into client discussions, translating complex topics into clear, practical guidance tailored to their priorities., • Provide informed direction on clients’ evolving sustainability pathways, helping them understand risks, opportunities and realistic next steps. Commercial Growth & Sales Development • Generate new business from the existing client ecosystem through referrals, introductions, and intelligent networking., • Operate within agreed guardrails to avoid overlap with Business Development Managers., • Identify and secure in-life growth opportunities, including upselling sustainability consultancy, MY ZEERO, Bureau Services, optimisation projects, and on-site generation., • Lead commercial conversations for high-value and strategic renewals, with Client Managers managing day-to-day renewal activity., • Support and advise Business Development Managers with new sales opportunities when required. Client Retention & Oversight • Provide strategic oversight and guidance to Client Managers on renewal approaches, pricing strategies, and value propositions., • Support and lead renewal negotiations for large and strategically significant clients. Consultative Solution Development • Work closely with the Solutions Architect, Operations, Sustainability teams, and Bureau Service to develop tailored solutions for clients., • Prepare and deliver high-impact proposals, presentations, and tender responses grounded in technical and commercial insight. Internal Collaboration & Governance • Maintain accurate and timely updates in Salesforce, including all client interactions, forecasts, and commercial opportunities., • Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless service delivery and adherence to process. Market Insight & Thought Leadership • Stay current with market developments, including procurement models, commodity price movements, regulatory changes (e.g., SECR, ESOS, SBTi), and emerging low-carbon technologies. What You’ll Bring Knowledge/Skills/Experience/Behaviours Needed: Essential • Experience in energy, sustainability consulting, or related sectors, ideally working with multi-site/corporate clients., • Proven success in account growth, consultative selling, cross-sell/upsell delivery, and senior-level relationship management., • Strong knowledge of energy markets, procurement strategies, and sustainability frameworks., • Demonstrated ability to influence C-suite decision-makers with credible, data-led insight., • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills., • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to articulate value and ROI., • High proficiency with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred)., • Excellent organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities in a target-driven environment.
