To take a virtual look around the schools please click here: White House Virtual Tour The Role: As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant you will assist the Speech and Language Therapy team (SLT) in providing Speech and Language Therapy services, covering speech, language and social communication, to children and young people working in a way that puts their health, safety and welfare first. Key Duties • Work under the direction of the Speech and Language Therapist using own initiative as appropriate and ensuring that changes, concerns and improvements are communicated, • Prepare equipment, materials and resources to support activities with children, • Assist the Speech and Language Therapist with report writing and other administrative requirements, • Assist with and facilitate Speech and Language Therapy group activities and the delivering of speech, language and / or social communication programmes designed by the Speech and Language Therapists, • Provide training to colleagues in communication methods such as visual communication methods, Social Stories, and use of appropriate computer software, • Support the Therapy Team with administrative duties related to therapeutic provision as directed by Lead Speech and Language Therapist and / or Clinical Lead Job Description – Speech and Language Therapy Assistant Qualifications • Interest in language and communication difficulties, • Commitment to and experience of supporting children and young people with a variety of communication needs, • Skills in working with pupils with special needs., • Confidence in own communication skills, and ability to guide and motivate other staff., • Personal organisation skills, capacity and flexibility for large and varied workload, • Competence and confidence in computer literacy skills, • Knowledge of and / or experience of Intensive Interaction, PECS, Alternative of Augmentative Communication systems, Attention Autism, Zones of Regulation How to Apply: For candidates that haven't worked in this sector before please be aware that for regulatory reasons the application process is far more detailed and thorough compared to other sectors.
