Research Director Client Side | Strategic Insights & Research 📍 Hybrid – Central London 🌴 Unlimited Annual Leave A globally recognised business is looking for a Research Director to join its growing in-house strategy and insights function. This is a highly visible role sitting at the intersection of commercial strategy, audience understanding, and business performance, helping shape how the organisation evolves through data driven insight. Working within a collaborative and forward thinking team, you’ll lead high impact research programmes that influence senior stakeholders, support strategic decision making, and improve audience engagement across a large portfolio of brands and events. This role would suit someone currently operating at Associate Director level who is looking for broader ownership, greater strategic influence, and the opportunity to lead complex, business critical initiatives client side. The Opportunity You’ll take ownership of key insight programmes from end to end, from shaping research design and methodology through to synthesis, storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and implementation. The role combines: • Strategic research leadership, • Hands on technical oversight, • Stakeholder management, • Team leadership You’ll manage and mentor a direct report while partnering closely with senior business leaders across multiple teams and markets. A major focus of the role will be evolving large scale insight programmes, including event survey frameworks, audience measurement, social listening strategy, and portfolio wide performance tracking. Key Responsibilities • Lead quantitative and mixed methodology research projects from briefing through to delivery and implementation, • Oversee major insight programmes including event survey initiatives and portfolio benchmarking projects, • Translate complex datasets into clear, commercially actionable recommendations, • Provide technical oversight across research methodologies including segmentation, MaxDiff, conjoint, and audience analysis, • Consolidate multiple data sources into cohesive insight frameworks that support strategic planning, • Drive continuous improvement of survey design, ensuring consistency, comparability, and global alignment across teams, • Develop social listening capabilities and help shape how audience sentiment and trends inform business decisions, • Support the development of ongoing dashboards and reporting frameworks to identify portfolio wide trends and opportunities, • Partner closely with senior stakeholders across the business, confidently presenting findings and influencing decision making, • Manage and mentor a direct report, providing guidance, structure, and development support, • Act as a proactive strategic partner to the business, identifying gaps, opportunities, and areas for innovation What We’re Looking For • Strong experience in research and insights, ideally within media, entertainment, consumer, agency, or related sectors, • Excellent quantitative research foundations with exposure to methodologies such as MaxDiff, conjoint, segmentation, and tracking studies, • Ability to oversee technical delivery while remaining commercially focused, • Experience synthesising multiple data sources into compelling strategic narratives, • Strong stakeholder management skills, with resilience and confidence navigating challenging conversations, • Experience managing or mentoring junior team members, • Familiarity with social listening platforms such as Brandwatch, Sprinklr, or Talkwalker, • Experience using data visualisation tools such as Tableau or similar dashboard/reporting platforms, • Strategic mindset with strong problem solving and analytical thinking capabilities, • Comfortable operating in a fast paced, evolving environment with multiple concurrent projects, • Curious, proactive, and eager to continuously learn and develop Please note: deep expertise in methodologies such as MaxDiff and conjoint is not essential from day one, the team is open to someone with solid research fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.
