Job title: Export Control Implementation Manager Location: Cambridge, UK (with international coordination) Sector: Aerospace & Defence Role Overview: Our client is seeking an Export Control Implementation Manager to lead the operational execution of export control compliance in support of our international growth strategy. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role with a clear emphasis on UK export licensing, international import processes, and US export control coordination. Approximately 70% of the role is focused on export control implementation, with the remaining 30% covering broader compliance activities including sanctions, anti-bribery, and anti-money laundering support. This role is critical to enabling international demonstrations, testing, and sales activities across multiple jurisdictions. Core Objective: To lead and execute operational export control compliance, enabling international expansion through efficient, compliant licensing and import processes across key global markets. Essential Experience Requirements: Primary Skillset – Export Control Expertise (Essential) • Minimum 3 years’ direct UK export licensing experience using ECJU / SPIRE / LITE systems, • Practical experience with ITAR and EAR compliance for defence and dual-use hardware and software, • Experience supporting DDTC applications, including meeting DSP-5 requirements, • ITAR experience including USPAB applications (highly desirable), • Established working relationships with logistics companies and customs brokers specialising in controlled goods, • Proven experience coordinating cross-border compliance between UK and US regulatory frameworks, • Hands-on import management for military and dual-use hardware and software across Europe, specifically:, • Ukraine, • Germany, • Poland, • Nordic countries Secondary Skillset – Broader Compliance Experience (Highly Beneficial): • Sanctions compliance exposure including OFAC, HMT, and EU sanctions regimes, • Anti-bribery and corruption compliance knowledge, including UK Bribery Act and FCPA awareness, • Anti-money laundering (AML) procedures, including customer due diligence and screening, • Experience managing multiple regulatory frameworks simultaneously within an integrated compliance approach, • Strong risk assessment capabilities across compliance domains, • Technical acumen (engineering background or technical writing experience) enabling interpretation of complex technical data for export licence drafting Key Responsibilities: Primary Responsibilities – Export Control (Approx. 70%) • Execute UK export licensing for all international shipments and technology transfers, • Manage international import processes across target markets, • Coordinate ITAR and EAR compliance for US-origin defence equipment, • Lead relationships with logistics providers and customs brokers, • Implement established export control procedures across business units, • Act as day-to-day liaison with UK, US, and international regulatory authorities Secondary Responsibilities – Broader Compliance (Approx. 30%) • Conduct sanctions screening for customers, suppliers, and business partners, • Support anti-bribery and corruption compliance, including due diligence activities, • Assist with AML compliance, including enhanced customer screening, • Coordinate and support compliance training across regulatory areas, • Maintain integrated compliance monitoring and reporting systems Ideal sector background: • UK Defence Primes, • European Defence Primes, • NeoPrimes, • Specialist Consultancies, • Mid-Tier Defence Contractors, • Regulatory Bodies Please note this role requires you to be able to obtain British security clearance, which you are unlikely to be able to receive if you are on any type of visa or not British sole or dual national.
