Project Manager – Electrical (Water Industry)\n\nReporting To:\n\nContracts Manager / Operations Director\n\nJob Summary\n\nOur client is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead the delivery of electrical infrastructure projects within the water and wastewater sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from initial planning through to commissioning and handover, ensuring delivery is achieved safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.\n\nWorking closely with water utility clients, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and operational stakeholders, the Project Manager will oversee all aspects of project delivery including health and safety, commercial performance, programme management, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.\n\nProjects may include treatment works upgrades, pumping stations, electrical installations, MCC replacements, LV/HV infrastructure, standby generation, power distribution systems, and AMP capital investment programmes.\n\nPrincipal Responsibilities\n\nHealth, Safety & Compliance\n\nPromote and maintain a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across all project activities.\n\t\nEnsure compliance with relevant legislation, electrical regulations, and company procedures.\n\t\nReview and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).\n\t\nConduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety reviews.\n\t\nEnsure all personnel are suitably trained, authorised, and competent.\n\t\nSupport the safe delivery of electrical works within live operational environments.\n\nProject Delivery\n\nManage electrical projects from concept through to completion and handover.\n\t\nDevelop and maintain project programmes, resource plans, and delivery schedules.\n\t\nCoordinate design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.\n\t\nMonitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation measures.\n\t\nEnsure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client specifications and contractual requirements.\n\t\nManage interfaces between electrical, mechanical, civil, and operational teams.\n\nClient & Stakeholder Management\n\nAct as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.\n\t\nMaintain regular communication regarding programme, budget, risks, and project performance.\n\t\nBuild strong working relationships with operational teams, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.\n\t\nManage technical queries, change requests, and project reporting requirements.\n\t\nEnsure a high level of customer satisfaction throughout project delivery.\n\nCommercial & Contract Management\n\nManage project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.\n\t\nSupport the administration of contracts, variations, compensation events, and change management processes.\n\t\nWork closely with commercial teams to maximise project efficiency and profitability.\n\t\nMonitor project costs and resource utilisation.\n\t\nEnsure contractual obligations are fulfilled throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nTechnical Management\n\nCoordinate the delivery of electrical infrastructure works across water and wastewater assets.\n\t\nReview electrical designs, specifications, and installation standards.\n\t\nOversee installation and commissioning of LV/HV systems, MCCs, switchgear, standby generators, transformers, power distribution equipment, and associated electrical infrastructure.\n\t\nEnsure compliance with relevant industry standards and client technical specifications.\n\t\nSupport testing, commissioning, energisation, and operational acceptance activities.\n\nQuality & Commissioning\n\nImplement robust quality assurance and quality control processes.\n\t\nEnsure all electrical installations are delivered to specification and industry standards.\n\t\nManage inspection, testing, commissioning, and certification activities.\n\t\nMaintain accurate project records, test documentation, and as-built information.\n\t\nDrive a right-first-time approach and defect-free project completion.\n\nLeadership & Resource Management\n\nLead and motivate multidisciplinary project teams.\n\t\nCoordinate subcontractors, suppliers, commissioning engineers, and specialist contractors.\n\t\nSupport the development and mentoring of project personnel.\n\t\nPromote collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.\n\t\nEnsure effective allocation and utilisation of project resources.\n\nCandidate Requirements\n\nEssential\n\nProven experience delivering electrical infrastructure projects within the water, utilities, industrial, or infrastructure sectors.\n\t\nStrong understanding of electrical installation, commissioning, and project delivery processes.\n\t\nExperience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects and subcontractors.\n\t\nKnowledge of LV electrical systems, MCCs, switchgear, power distribution, and industrial electrical installations.\n\t\nExperience managing project budgets, programmes, and stakeholder relationships.\n\t\nExcellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.\n\t\nFull UK Driving Licence.\n\t\nSMSTS.\n\t\nCSCS Card.\n\nDesirable\n\nHNC/HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.\n\t\nExperience working within AMP programmes.\n\t\nKnowledge of NEC contracts.\n\t\nIOSH or NEBOSH qualification.\n\t\nAuthorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) experience.\n\t\nCompEx certification.\n\t\nAPM, Prince2, or equivalent project management qualification.\n\t\nMembership of a recognised professional institution.\n\nTechnical Knowledge\n\nLV and HV electrical systems.\n\t\nMotor Control Centres (MCCs).\n\t\nSwitchgear and power distribution systems.\n\t\nStandby generation and backup power systems.\n\t\nElectrical testing and commissioning procedures.\n\t\nIndustrial control panels and electrical infrastructure.\n\t\nWater and wastewater treatment asset operations.\n\t\nRelevant electrical standards and regulations, including BS 7671 and associated industry guidance.\n\nPersonal
