What you’ll be doing As a Category Development Manager, you will play a key role in turning our rich retail execution datasets into actionable insights for some of the world’s most recognisable brands. You’ll analyse complex SKU-level data from multiple global markets, identify opportunities to improve category performance, and help clients influence retailer decisions in highly competitive airport retail environments. You will: Build, analyse, and interpret category performance reports across multiple categories and markets, identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities for growth. Use Shelftrak’s proprietary data, client sales data, and market intelligence to create evidence-based recommendations that improve category performance and shopper experience. Translate insight into shopper-led selling stories and strategic action plans for brand and retailer partners. Work closely with the commercial team to align category insights with joint business plans. Present findings to client stakeholders – from category managers to senior commercial leaders – in clear, compelling formats. Track category KPIs, ensuring execution is measured against agreed objectives and that insights feed into future planning cycles. Develop a deep understanding of travel retail’s unique challenges – including assortment optimisation, planogram compliance, sales performance, and passenger / shopper behaviour across different regions. Strong analytical skills, with experience in category management, insights, or retail analytics. Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data visualisation) and confidence working with large datasets. Experience in preparing client-ready presentations that tell a clear, commercially relevant story. Knowledge of FMCG retail (travel retail experience a bonus). Understanding of category management principles (space allocation, range optimisation, pricing, promotions, planogram compliance). Commercial awareness and the ability to see data in the context of shopper needs and retailer priorities.
