🚧 Ready to Lead Safety, Health & Environment at a National Scale? 🚧 Job Title: SHE Manager Location: Field Based – UK-wide (from Newquay to Newcastle upon Tyne) Salary: Circa £60,000 (dependent on experience) Contract: Temporary – 6 months (with potential to extend) Hours: Full Time – 37 hours per week Shape Safety. Influence Strategy. Make a National Impact. An established and respected leader in highways electrical engineering is seeking an experienced SHE Manager to join the business at a pivotal time. With over 25 years of industry excellence, this organisation delivers safe, reliable and innovative street lighting and highway electrical solutions that keep communities across the UK moving. This is a senior, visible leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape strategy, influence decision-making at the highest level, and embed best-in-class SHE standards across a geographically dispersed workforce. The Role Working closely with the Highway Electrical Senior Leadership Team, you’ll provide strategic direction, operational assurance and professional expertise across Safety, Health and Environment. Key areas of focus include: Strategic Leadership • Lead and deliver the SHE strategy aligned to business objectives, • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on all SHE matters, • Lead, coach and develop a team of SHE Advisors and Administrators, • Own and maintain the Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and industry standards, • Oversee operational risk management, major accident hazard controls and safety-by-design principles Incident & Risk Management • Provide leadership during serious incidents, investigations and learning reviews, • Embed robust close-call and incident reporting systems, • Drive targeted risk-reduction programmes (e.g. service strikes, working at height, fleet risk) Health, Wellbeing & Environment • Lead occupational health and wellbeing initiatives, including HAVS, mental health and fitness for work, • Ensure environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and risk controls are embedded across operations Stakeholder & Client Engagement • Represent the business at senior client forums, regulatory meetings and industry groups, • Build strong, credible relationships with operational leaders, trade unions, regulators and assurance partners What You’ll Bring • Proven senior SHE leadership experience within construction, utilities, highways or infrastructure, • Ability to influence at executive level and constructively challenge operational teams, • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Chartered status (CMIOSH or working towards), • Experience working in high-risk environments (highway electrical, power, telecoms or similar), • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, ISO standards and major hazard frameworks, • Experience implementing and embedding digital SHE systems and assurance platforms If you don’t tick every box – apply anyway.
