HR Advisor - Fixed Term 6 months \n \n BD Group is looking for an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to support the delivery of a professional and customer-focused HR service across the organisation. Reporting to the Senior ER/HR Business Partner, you will provide advice and guidance to managers and employees across a wide range of people matters, supporting the business through the full employee lifecycle. \n \n Working closely with managers, employees, payroll colleagues, and the wider HR team, you will play a key role in delivering effective HR solutions, supporting employee relations activity, maintaining compliance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of people processes. \n \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Provide HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on policies, procedures, and people-related matters.\n, • Support employee relations processes, including investigations, hearings, note taking, and coaching managers.\n, • Assist with organisational change programmes, including restructures and TUPE activities.\n, • Provide HR support across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, contractual changes, and leaver processes.\n, • Manage pre-employment checks, including right to work verification, references, and DBS checks.\n, • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring GDPR compliance and data integrity.\n, • Support payroll administration processes and assist with resolving payroll-related queries.\n, • Administer employee benefits, pension arrangements, and wellbeing initiatives.\n, • Produce workforce reports and HR management information to support decision making.\n, • Support learning and development activities, performance review processes, and HR projects.\n, • Assist with Subject Access Requests, data breach investigations, and other data protection activities.\n, • Work collaboratively with managers and colleagues to deliver an efficient and high-quality HR service.\n, • Monitor changes in employment legislation and HR best practice, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.\n\n \n Qualifications, Skills & Experience \n \n Essential \n\n • CIPD qualified, studying towards CIPD, or able to demonstrate equivalent HR experience.\n, • Experience working within a busy HR Advisory, HR Generalist, or people-focused role.\n, • Knowledge of employment legislation, employee relations processes, and HR best practice.\n, • Experience supporting managers and employees across the employee lifecycle.\n, • Experience maintaining HR records and working with HR systems.\n, • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.\n, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.\n, • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.\n, • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.\n, • Knowledge of GDPR and data protection requirements.\n\n \n Desirable \n\n • CIPD Level 5 qualification.\n, • Experience supporting organisational change programmes, restructures, or TUPE transfers.\n, • Experience supporting payroll processes and resolving payroll queries.\n, • Experience producing HR metrics, workforce reports, and management information.\n, • Knowledge of HR and payroll systems.\n\n \n Working Arrangements \n\n • Working Pattern: Full Time\n, • Fixed Term 6 months\n, • Location: Dagenham\n, • Hybrid working available where business needs allow\n\n \n About Us \n BD Group was created by the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham to deliver positive economic, environmental, and social change.
