As part of the Mears Group, we offer partnership solutions and expertise in estate management and property maintenance. \n Delivering a range of property services, including reactive repairs, planned and cyclical maintenance services to over 100 local authorities and housing providers nationwide including, Orbit: one of the largest housing providers in the midlands, east Anglia and the southeast. \n We are now seeking Multi Skilled Operatives to join us in Area 2 of the business to support our ongoing partnership with Orbit; now in its thirteenth year providing a stable and profitable contract, delivering excellent service and support through our local teams, who understand the importance of working together for the local community. \n About the Role: \n As a Multi Skilled Operative with MPS you will be working on our Void properties preparing houses for tenants. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance across a range of trades, ensuring residents’ homes are safe, functional, and well cared for. \n You’ll be working across void properties, responding to repair requests that cover carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, and more. No two days are the same, and your ability to adapt, problem-solve, and deliver excellent customer service will be key to your success. \n With a strong pipeline of work and a commitment to improving social housing standards, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that’s making a real difference in the community. We’re looking for someone reliable, skilled across multiple trades, and passionate about getting the job done right the first time. \n Duties: \n\n • Carry out responsive repairs across void social housing properties\n, • Replacing or repairing skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames\n, • Installing and adjusting kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors\n, • Repairing or replacing internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges\n, • Identifying and fixing minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps, and blocked sinks\n, • Carrying out patch plastering and making good, damaged walls or ceilings\n, • Completing wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing\n, • Painting and decorating to a professional finish following repair works\n, • Ensuring all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard\n, • Participating in out-of-hours emergency repair rota as required\n, • Reporting any further works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond scope\n\n\n, • Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents' homes\n, • Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets\n, • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order\n, • Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets\n\n Key Criteria: \n\n • Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating)\n\n\n, • Full UK driving licence\n, • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively\n, • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills\n, • Excellent customer service skills,\n, • Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices\n, • Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work\n, • Willingness to participate in out-of-hours emergency rota\n\n Benefits we can offer you \n\n • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays\n, • Annual Mears Fun Day - Our annual Fun Day is organised as a massive thank you from the Executive team for all the hard work!\n, • Volunteering Leave - Mears supports employees to undertake paid volunteering in the community, in support of our social value commitment.\n, • Staff perks with Mears Rewards - discounts of up to 10% weekly groceries, holidays, eye test vouchers, Share save scheme, plus much more\n, • Family friend policies\n, • Company Van & Fuel Card\n, • Uniform\n\n All our roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work within the UK, Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship. \n To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points. \n Candidates should be aware that all our roles are subject to relevant Background, Identity & Security checks before commencement of employment. \n Apply below or to discuss your application further; contact: Francesca Swan () \n If you need any help with your application process, we are here to support you.
