Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability or/and Autism (Tier 2) Pay: • From £18 per hour (PAYE), • £23 per hour (Freelance) Contract options: PAYE or Freelance Working pattern: Part-time, session-based Delivery locations: Hertfordshire, Sussex, Surrey, Exeter (Devon), Norfolk, Ipswich, Manchester, Liverpool, Derbyshire, and other UK locations as delivery expands About the role This role is for autistic people and those with learning disabilities who want to use their lived experience to help improve health and social care services. You will support the delivery of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism (Tier 2). The training is delivered to people working in health and social care and focuses on understanding autism, reasonable adjustments, communication, and how services can work better for autistic people. This recruitment is to expand our national pool of Autism Lived Experience Co-Trainers. We are particularly keen to hear from people who are already trained or have previously delivered Oliver McGowan Tier 2 training, although all expressions of interest are welcome, as we can train people if needed. Work is offered flexibly, depending on location and demand. You will never deliver training on your own. You will always be supported by a Facilitating Trainer and the wider training team. What the training covers Tier 2 training includes learning on: • Understanding autism, • Reasonable adjustments, • Communication, • Supporting autistic people in health and social care, • Supporting autistic people with mental health conditions, • Improving services based on lived experience What you will do As an Autism/Learning Disa Lived Experience Co-Trainer, you will: • Talk with people attending training about your personal experiences of being autistic, • Share what has been difficult when using health and social care services, • Explain what has helped and what services could do differently, • Take part in face-to-face training sessions, • Work as part of a team with a Learning Disability Co-Trainer and a Facilitating Trainer, • Take part in preparation and supported delivery Support and adjustments You will receive full training, preparation, and ongoing support. We are committed to supporting autistic people at work, and your role can be adjusted to suit your needs, strengths, and communication preferences. Once trained, you may also be invited to support the training of other trainers in the future. Who can apply This role is open only to people with lived experience of autism. Lived experience is essential to the delivery of this training, and we are unfortunately not able to consider applications from people who do not meet this requirement.
