Health & Safety Officer Location: Manufacturing Site (Ellesmere Port) Reporting to: Site Leadership / General Manager A well-established manufacturing organisation is seeking a proactive, hands-on Health & Safety Officer to support and strengthen its safety culture at a busy production site. This is a highly visible, site-based role where you will work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure safe working practices, legal compliance, and continuous improvement across operations. If you enjoy being on the factory floor, influencing behaviours, and driving meaningful safety improvements, this is an excellent opportunity to make an impact. The Role You will be responsible for supporting, developing, and embedding Health & Safety standards across the site, ensuring policies, procedures, and working practices are both compliant and actively followed day-to-day. Key responsibilities include: • Leading site Health & Safety compliance in line with UK legislation, • Reviewing and improving H&S policies, procedures, and risk controls, • Maintaining a live Risk Register and driving associated action plans, • Conducting regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks, • Investigating accidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented, • Delivering Health & Safety inductions for new starters, • Supporting training plans and maintaining training matrices, • Managing COSHH controls and safe handling of hazardous substances, • Coordinating fire safety processes, drills, and emergency procedures, • Supporting ISO standards (e.g. 9001, 14001, 45001) and audit readiness, • Promoting a strong safety-first and housekeeping culture, • Liaising with regulatory bodies and internal safety stakeholders This role is heavily focused on the factory floor and requires strong engagement with production teams, supervisors, and managers. About You We are looking for someone with a practical, people-focused approach to safety who can build strong working relationships across the site. You will ideally have: • 2–3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety or junior safety role, • Experience within a manufacturing or production environment, • Understanding of implementing H&S policies in line with UK legislation, • IOSH qualification (essential), • NEBOSH qualification (desirable), • Strong communication and influencing skills, • Good IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office), • A hands-on approach with high visibility on-site, • Full UK driving license (occasional travel may be required) What’s on Offer • Opportunity to work closely with an experienced leadership team, • Ongoing professional development and training, • Supportive and inclusive working environment Closing Date: Open Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 (depending on experience)
