As our Responsible AI Lead , you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring that our AI solutions are developed and deployed safely, ethically, and responsibly. Sitting at the heart of our AI function, you’ll define and lead the AA’s Responsible AI strategy, balancing innovation with risk, governance with delivery, and regulation with real-world impact. This is a hands-on leadership role with influence across Engineering, Product, Legal, Security, and Data Protection, helping teams move fast while doing the right thing. What will I be doing? • Define, implement, and continuously improve the AA’s Responsible AI strategy, ensuring AI solutions are safe, ethical, and compliant while enabling innovation, • Design and run AI impact and risk assessment processes, owning governance frameworks, policies, and the Model Risk Register, • Partner with engineering and product teams to embed Responsible AI guardrails, controls, and monitoring into AI development and deployment, • Chair cross-functional forums to oversee higher-risk AI use cases, enabling timely, well-informed decisions that support delivery, • Monitor emerging AI regulations and advise on compliance approaches, engaging with regulators and external stakeholders where needed, • Lead Responsible AI training and cultural change, providing thought leadership that influences organisational strategy and best practice What do I need?, • Experience in AI governance, compliance, risk, or legal advisory, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, • Strong understanding of AI risks across machine learning, generative AI, and emerging agentic systems, with practical mitigation approaches, • Knowledge of data protection, technology law, and AI ethics, applied in real-world, complex environments, • Confidence balancing innovation and risk, and turning principles into actionable guidance, • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including influencing senior leaders, • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays + holiday buying scheme, • Worksave pension scheme with up to 7% employer contribution, • Free AA breakdown membership from Day 1 plus 50% discount for family and friends, • Discounts on AA products including car and home insurance, • Employee discount scheme that gives you access to a car salary sacrifice scheme plus great discounts on healthcare, shopping, holidays and more, • Company funded life assurance, • Diverse learning and development opportunities to support you to progress in your career We’re an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from everyone.
