OCU are looking for an exceptional Head of Commercial to lead the commercial function across a portfolio of some of the UK's most significant renewable energy and non-regulated infrastructure projects, you will lead commercial strategy behind the UK's energy transition. 21 September 2026 Commercial & Estimating East London Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, you'll take ownership of the commercial strategy across multiple major projects from bid through to final account. We are looking for a commercially driven leader with extensive experience delivering major infrastructure and energy projects. • Proven experience negotiating contracts valued in excess of £25 million–£100 million., • Extensive experience leading commercial teams of 10–30+ commercial professionals, including Commercial Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrators., • Strong sector knowledge across renewable generation, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar, Independent Connection Provider (ICP) projects, HV substations, private networks, data centre connections and wider non-regulated energy infrastructure., • Significant experience negotiating and administering FIDIC, NEC, and bespoke EPC contracts., • A proven track record of resolving complex commercial disputes through negotiation, mediation and contractual mechanisms, avoiding litigation wherever possible., • The confidence, credibility and commercial judgement to act as the business's senior authority on contractual and commercial matters., • Extensive experience leading commercial functions across multiple concurrent major infrastructure projects valued between £20m and £250m+., • Expert knowledge of Compensation Events, Early Warnings, Variations, Claims and Final Accounts., • Exceptional commercial negotiation skills with experience securing commercially advantageous outcomes on complex projects., • Strong understanding of procurement strategies, commercial governance and contract risk allocation., • Experience presenting commercial performance, contractual risk and P&L reporting to Executive and Board-level audiences., • A passion for developing people through coaching, mentoring and leadership., • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Business or a related discipline., • An MBA or postgraduate qualification (desirable)., • Membership of a relevant professional institution (RICS, CIOB or equivalent) would be advantageous. It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network with it seeing over 200,000 vehicles per day and it’s a critical infrastructure asset for personal and goods vehicles into and around our capital. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, so it requires high levels of performance, constant improvement and repairs to keep it operating smoothly. We’ve formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to work with our partners to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract until 2039 Reports to: M&E Manager / Dartford Senior Engineer CPS - M25 based at Dartford (preferable) or Leatherhead or South Mimms with travel within the M25 DBFO project area. The role will be responsible for coordinating and managing design and construction activities across the two Dartford tunnels and QE2 Bridge. The role will provide technical input to challenge and propose solutions for upcoming projects including leading with method engineering reviews of design and framework subcontractors proposals. The working environment of the live operational tunnels and bridges provides multi-layered complexity for which innovative solutions are to be sought as we strive to improve safety by design. The role will support the CPS engineering team with design, design coordination, review Framework contractors’ proposals and manage external design consultants inline with the delivery priorities and programme. The role will require the individual to be able to both partake in design/method workshops for specific scopes alongside a regular (weekly) construction site presence to act as the interface between the site construction works and the design & engineering teams. Whilst onsite the individual will be responsible for checking activity Control Plans, specification compliance, QA records, Identify/raise NCRs and ensure Technical Queries TQs are raised, actioned and responded to with suitable solutions to support the project need. The role will include responsibility for: • Design coordinator across a range of secondary steelwork and M&E schemes., • Understanding of construction tolerances and awareness of Specification and other Contract documents., • Is able to identify potential hazards onsite or in the planned construction methodology and is proactive in implementing actions and controls., • To manage design delivery, and review documentation from internal and external consultants., • Preparing, raising or checking Temporary Works Briefs., • Reviewing and preparing methods of work for complex installations., • Workforce engagement to ensure design and engineering solutions are being efficiently and safely executed onsite., • Produces weekly programme and measures design progress against KPI’s and forecast suitable design resources to meet the programme of works., • Identifies items of additional work and raises the necessary notifications. The role will be focused on the Dartford assets however may also be called on to support the other tunnels across the M25 network if needed. The Infrastructure Engineer will provide effective IT and infrastructure support across all aspects of the business, locally and throughout all regional offices. The role is responsible for managing the IT Helpdesk team, ensuring calls and tickets are logged and resolved in a timely manner, while also taking ownership of the company's Microsoft Server, Desktop, Microsoft 365, Azure cloud, networking, and endpoint management environments. The role works closely with the Developers, Azure Architects, and Network Architects to support and evolve the organisation's infrastructure, and provides exposure to a wide range of infrastructure, networking, and cloud projects. This role reports directly to the Head of IT Operations.
