Working with a well-established R&D team in Cambridgeshire, we are in search for 2 Mechanical Engineers to join our client through such a critical growth phase. Reporting to a Senior or Principal Engineer, Mechanical Engineers help the Engineering Team in the development of the product-making process and machines. They are expected to have in-depth technical knowledge to support their role and the ability to learn and apply new skills quickly. The team supports all aspects of the process to varying degrees, from pulp preparation all the way through to fitment attachment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead development projects, • Present directly to the Head of Engineering, CTO and other Senior Leadership Team members, • Liaise with clients on a technical level, • Look externally to identify new developments, innovations, and insights that could benefit the business, • Recommend, develop, and implement new technical solutions for application to our technology, • Lead scale up from idea conception to R&D prototype manufacture to industrialisation, • Manage the implementation of risk assessments for new processes and equipment, • Lead R&D team ideation and problem-solving sessions, giving technical input when required, • Develop expert knowledge of the bottle manufacturing processes and plant technology so as to be able to give technical direction, • In-depth collaboration with and knowledge of other R&D activities so as to provide assistance and guidance where required, • Plan, conduct, and document experiments in R&D or in Production required for process and machine development, • Work in-line with workshop / company procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment, • Identify and undertake necessary training to be able to carry out role effectively Requirements • 2+ years’ experience, • Positive, proactive, collaborative, approachable, and compassionate attitude, • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, • Experience with manufacture of machinery - desirable, • Proficiency with hand tools and standard workshop equipment, • Ability to manage and delegate workload while in busier periods, • A keen eye for detail and a problem-solving mindset, • Can analyse complex data to assess different technical solutions, • Comfortable with MS Office suite of programs, • Ability to document and present results succinctly and timeously both internally and externally, • CAD (SolidWorks), mechanical design, and 3D printing proficiency to support project responsibilities, • Project management skills that are focussed on identifying and delivering the company’s goals For further details on this position, please apply now.
