Join a team where learning, collaboration, and growth are at the core of everything we do, and where solving big challenges is part of the fun. \n \n The Role \n \n This is a hybrid role which will combine remote working with site presence in client projects. \n \n Who is this role for \n \n This role is specifically for project professionals who are experienced in the Transmission and Distribution sector in the UK preferably working on the developer/operator side, although experience working as principal contractor will also be considered. The person will have built a demonstrable reputation in the sector making past colleagues/stakeholders keen to work with them again \n \n Purpose of the role \n \n You will lead the delivery of engagements, considered as a sector SME, at times leading and mentoring other team members to develop their sector capabilities and knowledge. You will also serve clients in some of Laminar's core disciplines such as planning and project controls. \n \n You will also support the growth of our services in the sector through developing proposals, winning strategies and building successful client relationships and strategic partnerships in the sector. \n \n Team \n \n This role is part of our Project Management Consultancy which focuses on: \n \n Understanding what the real problems of projects are \n Implementing the best solutions to those problems \n Developing scalable best practices, tools and technology \n \n More specifically you will be part of our Project Services Team. Own the plan: Own the project plan for one or more projects and ensure that the project is working to it effectively. Ensure delays are mitigated and managed commercially \n 1. Own the outcome: You may not be the project manager ultimately responsible for the results but you are sure as heck responsible for putting in your best effort to ensure the project’s understanding and focus on the plan no matter how stubborn they are! \n 1. Develop everyone: Maximise the development of your team personally and professionally and educate our clients to improve as well.(even if you are junior you can help your leader develop too!) \n \n Your Capabilities \n \n You are an experienced project manager in construction project management with a minimum of 7 years' experience working on UK transmission and distribution projects with good level of understanding of sector specific requirements, processes and familiar working on projects for UK DNOs and/or TOs i.e. UKPN, National Grid, SPT or SSE. \n \n 1. Able to deliver and lead others to deliver cutting-edge planning and project controls services in the construction industry, powered by the latest digital tools and technologies. \n 1. Good understanding of project delivery requirements from inception to closeout \n 1. Able to develop project execution plans and programmes appropriate to project maturity / stage gate. \n 1. General understanding of contract forms with preference to experience with NEC \n 1. Ability to navigate complex project environments, processes and requirements and operate with minimal guidance to achieving results and top-quality deliverables \n 1. Advocate of innovation; bringing fresh ideas to the table, streamlining workflows and embracing digital transformation. \n \n Transmission & Distribution Sector Focus \n \n 1. This role is sector specific and prior experience in delivering construction projects as a client or general contractor representative/consultant in the sector is essential. \n 1. Understanding sector regulations, processes and contractual practices. \n 1. Ability to develop comprehensive project strategies for transmission projects, encompassing scheduling, risk management, and cost control, from initiation to close-out and handover. \n 1. Ability to work directly with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes and achieve common goals in the T&D environments. \n \n As a candidate, you should have: \n \n Must-Have (The fundamentals) \n \n Mastery: Construction engineering background with experience on construction projects.
