Job Title: Head of Procurement Location: Scunthorpe, UK Employment Type: Permanent Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Procurement to lead the procurement function in Scunthorpe. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in procurement management, particularly with expertise in low-cost country sourcing. This role will involve overseeing all procurement activities, developing strategic sourcing strategies, and managing supplier relationships to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with business objectives and focus on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supplier performance., • Lead and manage the procurement team, providing direction, support, and development opportunities to ensure high performance., • Identify and establish relationships with suppliers in low-cost countries to drive competitive advantage and cost savings., • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure advantageous terms and ensure compliance with company policies and standards., • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and supplier performance to make informed procurement decisions., • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and supply chain, to align procurement strategies with overall business goals., • Implement best practices in procurement processes and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness., • Manage and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities, ensuring continuity of supply and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements., • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, performance, and cost savings to senior management. Qualifications and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CIPS) is preferred., • Extensive experience in procurement, with a strong focus on low-cost country sourcing., • Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing procurement teams., • Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management., • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities., • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders., • Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement in procurement processes., • Knowledge of procurement software and tools.
