Keoghs LLP is one of the leading insurance law firms in the UK and the most dynamic in its sector. We now have an exciting opportunity to join our Property Risks and Coverage L&CL team. This role is based out of our Bolton office. Flexible working is encouraged for the right candidates. L&CL cases require a meticulous, detailed and collaborative approach and you will be part of a team which typically handles large loss property damage disputes arising from all perils including fires, EOW, impact requiring advice of policy coverage, legal liability and subrogated recoveries. You will be part of a team and will be assisting and supporting more experienced lawyers who will be advising clients and handling L&CL claims. The team acts on behalf of several key insurer clients for the firm and this is a great opportunity to gain experience in the most complex high-profile cases in the team and for career progression. Key Accountabilities The team deals with all aspects of a L&CL property damage claim, such as advising insurers on and handing indemnity disputes including complaints to the FOS and acting for policyholders to defend liability claims and bring subrogated recoveries. All these types of matters can be complex and information and document heavy. This is an assisting role, and you will not be required to handle a case load in your own right. You will be working on files belonging to the Lead Lawyer/Partner in a L&CL team. Key accountabilities for role will include: • Chasing documents., • Collating documents and summarising them for lawyers needed to consider strategy., • Arranging conferences with the insurer client, expert and counsel., • Arranging Counsel and other expert attendances., • Legal research & completing factual/evidential chronologies., • Where appropriate filing documents at court, diarising Court orders and other critical dates., • Ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations., • Dealing with routine correspondence., • Investigating claims and preparing first draft of an advice., • Communicating effectively with insurer clients and their policyholders., • Completing investigations including obtaining fire brigade reports, MID searches, loss adjuster reports and further evidence., • Liaising with loss adjusters and experts.Experience, Skills and Qualifications, • Degree level education and/or Postgraduate., • An ability to prioritise workload., • Ability to pay attention to detail., • Ability to work with case management systems., • Previous experience of working in a team which handles insurance claims., • Knowledge of the sorts of disputes dealt with by the PRC team.Benefits, • Davies Incentive Plan, • 25 days holiday per year which increases with level of service (opportunity to buy & sell 3 days), • Simply Health Care Cash Plan, • WeCare – 24/7 online GP, mental health support and virtual wellbeing covering a whole host of topics to do with health, mental health, wellbeing & healthy living and financial & legal wellbeing, • Death In Service – after 1 years’ service, • Pension Contribution based 5% Employee / 3% Employer, • Employee Resource Groups, • Employee Volunteering Programme, • Cycle to Work Scheme*, • Tech Scheme*, • Season Ticket Loan*, • Gym Flex*, • Access to Online Discount Sites, • Discounted Gourmet Society Membership, • Discounted Tickets for Merlin Attractions nationwide
