The Senior Director, Total Rewards is a critical People & Culture leadership role responsible for the development and leadership of a comprehensive global total rewards strategy and team. This position ensures the design, implementation, and administration of compensation, benefits, wellness, and recognition programs are globally competitive, locally relevant, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives. Working within a company focused on positive change and future readiness, the role requires expertise in managing Total Rewards across diverse geographies, cultures, and regulatory landscapes, ensuring equity and consistency while adapting programs to meet regional needs. While strategy is a key driver of this role, the postholder will also be required to undertake both operational and administrative responsibilities. The Senior Director, Total Rewards is a hands-on partner in advancing the organization’s ability to attract, retain, and motivate top talent in an increasingly competitive and globalized workforce. The role is also accountable for the development, motivation, assessment, and reward of the Total Rewards team. The role will be based in the the UK and will be eligible for flexible working. The role will be a direct report to the Chief People Officer. In this role, your responsibilities will include: • Develop and execute a global Total Rewards strategy that reflects the organization’s culture and business priorities while accounting for regional nuances., • Leverage emerging technologies, including AI and automation, to enhance Total Rewards strategies, embracing innovation as an opportunity to drive efficiency and deliver value., • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on global compensation and benefits trends, competitive practices, and compliance requirements across multiple geographies., • Lead efforts to harmonize total rewards programs globally, ensuring consistency while enabling flexibility to meet local needs., • Align rewards programs with workforce strategies to attract and retain top talent in a globally competitive market., • Oversee the design and management of global compensation programs, including salary structures, short- and long-term incentive plans, and executive compensation., • Ensure global market competitiveness by conducting benchmarking across regions and industries., • Lead efforts to address global regulatory requirements, including pay equity, pay transparency, and evolving compliance standards., • Design and manage innovative global benefits programs that support diverse employee needs, including health, retirement, and wellness initiatives., • Oversee the customization of benefits offerings to align with local markets while maintaining global standards of excellence., • Manage vendor and broker relationships globally to deliver consistent, high-quality benefits services., • Develop and enforce global governance frameworks to ensure consistency, compliance, and equity across regions., • Monitor and adapt to changes in global regulatory landscapes, ensuring all programs meet country-specific requirements., • Prepare and present materials for global board and committee meetings, including Compensation Committees, with a focus on Total Rewards strategy and compliance., • Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing, geographically dispersed Total Rewards team., • Promote cross-regional collaboration to share best practices and drive innovation across markets., • Act as a cross-functional leader, partnering closely with People & Culture leaders and other stakeholders such as Finance, Legal, and business leaders to implement Total Rewards initiatives effectively. The skills and experience required for this role include: • Minimum of 15 years in Total Rewards, with significant leadership experience in a global organization, • Expertise in managing compensation, benefits, and recognition programs across multiple regions, including North America, EMEA and APAC, • Proven experience in managing executive compensation and collaborating with Compensation Committees, • BS in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; or commensurate experience and education; advanced degree preferred, • Proven experience working as a partner across all Human Resources stakeholders and COEs; ability to resolve business problems that enhance the reputation of the People & Culture division, • Professional certifications are highly desirable; strong network within the global Total Rewards community preferred, • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to align Total Rewards programs to business objectives, • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights, • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to engage with executive leadership and external stakeholders, • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale change initiatives within a global organization, • High-level proficiency in HR technologies and analytics platforms Travel requirements: • Eligible for flexible work arrangements in approved jurisdictions, • Occasional travel to CFA Institute meetings, events, and testing centers, no more than 10% About CFA Institute CFA Institute are the global leader in investment excellence and ethics.
