We are looking for an enthusiastic medical oncologist to join our well-established, dedicated and supportive team. The successful candidate will join a team of 13 consultant oncologists supported by three specialty doctors and five clinical oncology SpRs to serve a population of 750,000. The department treats the full spectrum of malignant disease including breast, lung, lower and upper GI, haematology, gynaecology, urology, neuro-oncology, skin, and head and neck. The post will cover breast and one other tumour subsite depending on your interests. Acute oncology, renal, neuroendocrine or cancer of unknown primary would be strongly encouraged. This post is for an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist position in the East Mental Health & Wellness Team (MHWT-E), based at Beam Park Health Centre, 2 Halewood Way, Rainham, RM13 8QZ. This is a replacement, substantive, full-time post - 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) post with 7.5 Direct Clinical Contact activities (DCC) and 2.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs). The postholder will be part of the Senior Psychiatrist on-call rota covering out of hours and weekends for Mental Health Services in NELFT. The on call will cover service delivery for Adults and Older Adults presenting with mental health problems. This is currently a 1:50 rota with a 3% Category A salary supplement. The trust has also a daytime (9am - 5pm) Section 136 rota, with an approximate frequency of one day every three months. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing care to adults with mental health needs who are registered with a GP Practice located in the eastern part of the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham (plus a small number of patients who reside in that part of the Borough but whose GP is elsewhere). This roughly equates to residents of the Electoral Wards named East Brook, Alibon, Goresbrook, River and Village on the borough map in Section 3.1 below. The successful candidate will provide senior medical support to the team, and direct input on clinical cases. The consultant will be expected to provide guidance and supervision to the team, work directly with adult patients (and their families), and liaise as appropriate with other external mental health providers, and acute hospitals.
