About Us The Royal Docks School of Business & Law (RDSBL) is a vibrant and diverse academic community dedicated to empowering students through transformational education and real-world experience. The Legal Advice Centre (LAC) is a cornerstone of our community outreach and clinical legal education. Since 2014, the LAC has provided free legal support to local residents while offering students invaluable opportunities to gain hands-on experience. Working across housing, family, employment and other key practice areas, the Centre plays a vital role in supporting local communities and developing the next generation of legal professionals. To support this work, we are seeking a dedicated and organised Legal Assistant to help deliver high-quality services to clients, students and partners. About The Job This is an in-person, campus-based role supporting the daily operations of the Legal Advice Centre across UEL sites. Working closely with the LAC Director, Lead and supervising solicitor, you will ensure smooth handling of client matters, support student volunteer engagement, and maintain accurate case management records. You Will • Manage and update client databases across Clio, Intralink and internal registers, • Support client handling, letters, follow-up communication and legal research, • Assist in preparing and maintaining practice management folders and student registers, • Organise and promote LAC events, public lectures and workshops, • Create rotas for student volunteers and monitor engagement via CareerZone, • Provide administrative support, including scanning, filing and handling confidential materials, • Manage LAC social media pages and create student-engagement content, • Coordinate meetings, bookings, room allocations and logistics, • Compile end-of-term statistics, prepare newsletters, and support reporting, • Support the development of new partnerships and external collaborations, • Adhere to data protection requirements, client confidentiality and equality standards, • Maintain your SRA training record as part of your professional development This role includes occasional cross-campus working and some flexibility, depending on operational needs. What You’ll Need To Thrive You will succeed in this role if you are: • Organised and reliable, with strong administrative capability, • Professional and discreet, especially when working with sensitive client information, • An excellent communicator, confident with clients, students and external partners, • Proactive, able to take initiative and solve problems independently, • Detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy across datasets, letters, reports and records, • Comfortable working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines when required, • Engaged with legal education, and enthusiastic about supporting community-based legal services You Should Have • An Undergraduate Law Degree, and either completion of the LPC or enrolment on the LPC, • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, email, social media management), • Experience in administration or previous experience in a Legal Advice Centre, • Ability to plan and organise events and coordinate student volunteers, • Understanding of equal opportunities, data protection and client confidentiality Desirable qualities include familiarity with case management systems, experience monitoring student progress, and knowledge of areas of law relevant to the Centre.
