About the opportunity: This is an exceptional and high-impact opportunity to join a mission-driven organization shaping the chemical industry’s transition toward sustainability. The Global Project Lead will play a central role in shaping, managing, and scaling collaborative industrial business builds across GIC’s global membership base. Guided by the GIC’s CEO Advisory Board and Executive Committee, this role offers a front-row seat to senior-level industry collaboration and requires a professional capable of driving projects from concept through to investment-ready stage. You will work directly with executive and project teams from GIC’s member companies - representing around $500 billion in combined annual revenue - to structure, manage, and execute cross-company projects that translate ambition into tangible industrial outcomes. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong foundation in the chemical industry, deep understanding of industrial project development and scale-up, and a proven ability to turn ideas into executable, investable business cases. Position Overview: The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership in the early-stage development of large-scale industrial and consortium-based projects, ideally with joint venture experience within the chemical, energy, or materials sector. They will possess strong strategic, financial, and project coordination skills, and be able to synthesize technical, commercial, and sustainability perspectives into coherent business strategies. A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset, combined with an ability to navigate complexity, influence stakeholders, and drive execution, is essential. This position is remote (UK/EU-based only) with frequent in-person meetings across Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Reporting lines and interactions: You will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of GIC and collaborate daily with broader project team. You will engage with senior executives, project leads, and technical experts across GIC’s member base and strategic partners, acting as a trusted orchestrator and project driver ensuring alignment and accountability across diverse stakeholders. Main Responsibilities: • Lead, structure, and deliver GIC projects from early concept through to spin-off or investment (LOI/FID), • Identify, scope, and build new collaborative business opportunities aligned with member priorities, • Translate strategic ambitions into actionable business cases that demonstrate clear value creation and decarbonization impact, • Manage multiple projects with rigour, clarity, and energy, ensuring alignment, scope discipline, and momentum, • Drive go/no-go decisions early to optimize member resources, • Address critical success factors with urgency (e.g., commercial frameworks, governance, legal agreements, and bottlenecks), • Lead and develop a yearly ideation workshop between all member participations to ensure and refresh project pipeline continuity and diversification Expected Capabilities: • Deep understanding of chemical industry dynamics, including net-zero transition pathways, circular economy drivers, and value chain bottlenecks, • Ability to conceptualize and model new business constructs (JV, consortium, or platform-based structures), • Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with capacity to conduct or guide data-driven analyses, • Excellent stakeholder engagement and executive presence, comfortable interfacing with C-suite and senior management, • Exceptional project management discipline, with ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver under tight timelines, • Entrepreneurial, flexible, and results-oriented mindset capable of driving progress amid ambiguity, • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and modern digital and AI-based collaboration tools Proven Experience: • 10+ years of experience in the chemical or adjacent industrial sectors, ideally with exposure to decarbonization, circularity, or new business build initiatives, • Demonstrated leadership in early-stage project development and business case creation, • Proven experience managing multi-stakeholder and cross-company projects in industrial or CAPEX-heavy environments, • Experience structuring joint ventures, alliances, or public–private partnerships, • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including familiarity with project valuation, modelling, and feasibility frameworks, • Prior consulting or strategic business development experience within the chemicals, materials, or sustainability domain is an advantage To apply: To apply, please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your interest in the position and how your skills align with the responsibilities.
