Product Compliance Engineer (Electrical) Department: Engineering Reports To: Group CTO Location: Skypark, Exeter (on-site with customer travel for commissioning) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience About Rapid Fusion Rapid Fusion is an advanced manufacturing company based in Exeter, Devon, specialising in large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM) systems. We develop robotic 3D printing systems including the Cerberus (containerised military systems) and Gantry (factory floor systems), along with the PE320 pellet extruder and Apollo Zeus commercial manufacturing platform. Our systems are deployed with customers across defence, aerospace, marine, and industrial sectors in the UK, Europe, and USA. Role Overview Rapid Fusion is scaling. Our robotic 3D printing systems are proven and in demand, with a growing order book across commercial and defence markets. We're looking for an experienced Product Compliance Engineer to own the electrical compliance and productisation of our new systems. This is a role for someone who has done this before. You'll have led products through CE/UKCA certification, you'll know what a robust technical file looks like, and you'll understand what's required to get complex machinery to market. Working alongside our Senior Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of electrical compliance, documentation, and production readiness across our product range. We need someone who can define the process, not just follow one. Key Responsibilities Compliance & Certification • Own CE/UKCA certification for our product range, including technical files and declarations of conformity, • Lead risk assessments and ensure compliance with Machinery Directive requirements, • Ensure electrical designs meet relevant safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 60204-1, IEC 62061), • Manage relationships with test houses and certification bodies, • Finalise electrical schematics and implement proper revision control, • Create and maintain accurate BOMs in our ERP system, • Develop build documentation and assembly instructions for consistent manufacturing, • Produce user manuals, installation guides, and maintenance documentation, • Manage relationships with panel builders, cable assembly suppliers, and component vendors, • Source components, obtain quotes, and drive cost reduction, • Ensure incoming parts and assemblies meet quality standards, • Travel to customer sites to commission systems and support installations, • Develop test procedures and commissioning protocols, • Provide technical support for deployed systems, • Feed lessons learned from site back into product development Requirements Essential: • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, • Proven track record of leading products through CE/UKCA certification, • Strong knowledge of Machinery Directive, ISO 13849, IEC 60204-1, and IEC 62061, • Experience owning compliance documentation and technical files end-to-end, • Proficiency in electrical CAD (EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar), • Experience with PLC programming and safety systems, • Ability to define and implement engineering processes, • Strong technical writing and documentation skills, • Experience managing external suppliers and subcontractors, • Experience with KUKA or other industrial robot systems, • Background in machinery, capital equipment, or automation, • Knowledge of US compliance requirements (UL, NFPA 79), • Experience in defence, aerospace, or marine sectors What We Offer • Key role in a fast-growing advanced manufacturing company, • Ownership of electrical compliance and new product introduction, • Work on cutting-edge robotic 3D printing systems for defence and industrial applications, • Collaborative environment with direct impact on company growth, • Career progression as the company scales, • Pension scheme, • 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays
