Job Title: Intervention Specialist (English) Location: Hillingdon, London, UK Salary: £90–£100 per day Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Term Time Only) Start Date: 13/04/2026 Key Stages: KS3, KS4, KS5 (Secondary & SEN) Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable. About the Role We are seeking a resilient, committed, and driven English Intervention Specialist to join a dedicated team. This is a highly rewarding but demanding role, working with some of the school’s most challenging and disengaged students. You will play a key role in raising attainment in English by delivering targeted interventions to students with significant literacy gaps. The role requires confidence, patience, and the ability to build strong, consistent relationships with learners who may present behavioural challenges or lack confidence in their abilities. Working closely with the English department and pastoral team, you will support students in re-engaging with education and preparing for their GCSE English Language and Literature exams. Key Responsibilities • Deliver targeted English interventions to small groups and on a 1:1 basis (KS3 & KS4), • Support students with gaps in reading, writing, comprehension, and SPaG, • Work with pupils who are disengaged, underachieving, or at risk of exclusion, • Support preparation for GCSE English Language and Literature, • Track, monitor, and evaluate student progress, adapting strategies where needed, • Collaborate with teaching and pastoral staff to improve behaviour and engagement, • Build strong relationships to motivate and re-engage reluctant learners, • Maintain high expectations and contribute to a calm, focused learning environment Candidate Requirements: • A degree in English or a related subject (or relevant experience), • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature, • Experience working with challenging behaviour and/or SEMH needs, • The ability to engage students who may be resistant to learning, • Confidence in behaviour management and setting clear boundaries, • High levels of resilience, patience, and emotional intelligence, • A genuine passion for supporting students in high-need settings Why Join This School? • A supportive and collaborative staff team, • A strong focus on professional development and impact, • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students’ academic journeys, • A structured environment with clear expectations and support systems, • The chance to work closely with both academic and pastoral teams About the School This diverse and inclusive secondary school in Hillingdon is committed to raising academic standards and improving literacy outcomes for all students.
