About the role Are you ready to take the lead on high-value, complex claims and make a real difference? We're looking for a seasoned professional to manage a portfolio of large loss cases, delivering fair outcomes and exceptional service to our customers. In this pivotal role, you'll provide expert technical guidance, ensuring consistency, control, and continuous improvement in line with our policies and procedures. Key responsibilities • To handle a portfolio of complex and high value personal injury claims in a collaborative manner making the optimal use of the telephone to drive the case forward, • Work with our trusted panel solicitors utilising a strategic case management approach aimed at shortening lifecycle where appropriate for the customer/claimant, • To deal with all aspects of end-to-end claims handling, • To keep up to date with good claims practice and champion this throughout the team and wider claims function, • To act within set handling authorities as defined by the Claims Authorities Matrix, • Act as a point of reference to guide, mentor and advise others to ensure the sharing of knowledge and best practice, • Experience of communicating and presenting highly complex information to internal and external stakeholders, • The ability to drive excellent team working including collaboration within and across teams to achieve shared company objectives and values, • Develop and apply claims strategies to conclude claims in an economical and effective way to drive down the length of the claims lifecycle and keep legal costs down, • Deliver and contribute to the MIB’s 5 year Strategy “Accelerate to Zero”, • Conduct internal and external audits Use knowledge from audits to contribute to and deliver technical and process improvement initiatives to continually build operational and technical capability, • Challenges self and others to rise to challenges and perform to the best of their abilities, • Support the wider Claims function with the identification of skills gaps and where appropriate the design and delivery of specific technical training to assist with their progression and succession plans, • Deliver short term /one off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with line manager, • Proven experience of handling significant personal injury claims valued in excess of £500k, • Understanding of insurance indemnity principles, • Good judgement and to be able to balance commercial and claims risks to achieve positive outcomes, • Strong investigative and negotiation skills, • The ability to process data quickly and make risk based decisions within the authorities provided, • Proven analytical and systematic thinking skills, • The ability to manage complex stakeholders and partnering relationships, • Strong customer focus and ability to work to deadlines and agreed SLA’s, • Has a questioning attitude, • Is self-organised and has time management skills to meet deadlines, • To be able to use a claims case management system as well as Microsoft based products, • An unquestionable understanding of motor insurance and claims principles in general, • Understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and MIB stance on litigation, • Understanding of settling claims using periodic payments, • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience, • Understanding and application of the MIB agreements and claims handling processes / procedures, gained from experience of working as a MIB Claims Handler or in a similar insurance or legal role. Level of support will vary according to the criticality of the third-party relationship. The Lead may be required to provide lighter-touch support for medium and low risk third party engagements but may be required to lead third party management activities for critical and high risk third parties., • Third party management activities include (but are not limited to) conducting supplier introductory meetings and performance reviews, monitoring supplier performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs), identifying areas for improvement, addressing performance issues and agreeing improvement actions, supplier issue resolution, performance recovery and exit-planning activities., • Contribute to the delivery of cost reductions, efficiencies and value opportunities through delivery of Procurement and third-party management activities., • Build and maintain excellent relationships with internal stakeholders throughout the business, including those at a senior leadership level., • Provide Procurement and Third-Party Management SME inputs, strategic commercial advice and challenge at a senior leadership level., • Provide peer-to-peer guidance, challenge and support to the central team in their delivery of Procurement services and Third-Party management support to the business., • Work with Finance business partners to produce accurate budgets, forecasts and supplier spend analysis, as required., • Support to develop and maintain an external network of Procurement and Third-Party Management contacts to develop category expertise, drive market insight, leverage market commercial power and bring technical and/or industry subject matter expertise back into MIB., • Procurement and third-party management experience in a fast-paced organisation., • Commercially astute, financially literate and legally competent to negotiate and draft complex supplier contracts., • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to build constructive working relationships with suppliers, negotiating to deliver results, enforcing contractual obligations and achieving cost savings and improvements., • Highly credible and collaborative team member, comfortable to challenge, and with excellent influencing skills and the gravitas to establish trust and confidence of senior stakeholders (TPAEs and TPROs) at senior management level., • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to translate complex technical subject matter into clear, concise and impactful information that drives the right decisions., • Sector experience of insurance and/or financial services is highly desirable. About Our Role This is no ordinary Contact Centre job. As a Customer Advisor with the MIB, you'll be assisting the Police to remove uninsured drivers off our roads. Evidence suggests that uninsured drivers are more likely to kill and injure others on the road and be linked to other criminal activity. We're looking for professional and proactive team members who can deal with enquiries in a helpful and efficient way.
