The Assistant Yacht Designer & Project Manager will support project teams to ensure their work is delivered on time, budget and to an exceptional standard. They will work closely with all members of the project team, including those from the Exterior Design, Interior Design and FF&E departments. Idyllically located in the New Forest, the role is based at our fast-paced yacht design studio where work is demanding and rewarding in equal measures. The Yacht Design team is the organisational glue which holds RWD project teams together and are integral to our vision to be the most inspiring superyacht design studio in the world. Having a broad experience and interest in all aspects of yacht design, project management and construction is essential. As project managers, the team are naturally organised and meticulous in their attention to detail and as designers, develop the design of the project with the team and harness the specialist design skills of their colleagues to ensure the execution of a truly integrated yacht design. Key Responsibilities & Tasks • Effectively communicate and translate the interior or exterior design information of the Project by providing 2D CAD drawing and 3D models to shipyard and/or subcontractor manufacturers, • Draft General Arrangement plans for review, • Organise and supply information to visualisers, • Ensure RWD project planning and work schedule are kept up to date and synchronise with Project Build schedule to ensure that all RWD information is supplied on time, • Liaise, co-ordinate, and correspond with the broader project team e.g. shipyard, naval architects, and sub-contractors, • Prepare for and represent RWD at project meetings, including overseas, • Reporting to the Team Principal and Project Manager at regular intervals on progress of tasks and update with project work both internally and at the shipyard, • Regularly review projects to ensure they are delivered within budget for time allocated, constantly mindful of identifying efficiencies, • Working closely with the creative teams to meet design brief, • Keep up to date with latest industry news and developments, • Contribute towards RWD’s understanding of the environmental impacts of our design decisions, embed it within our projects and people and, drive innovation in design to achieve a positive impact Knowledge, Abilities & Skills • Graduate or Masters level in Naval Architecture, Yacht or Transport design, • Other relevant qualifications or experience will be considered, • Minimum 1-2 years luxury/yacht experience and relevant project management, • Strong organisational skills, • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, • Ability to think on your feet, making project decisions that ensure client expectations are met, whilst also knowing at what point to escalate to the Project Manager, Team Principle or Head of Yacht Design for support, • Ability to focus on individual detail whilst maintaining a good overall view, • Pragmatism and diplomacy, • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of industry standards and yacht codes, • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of AutoCAD, Rhino, InDesign, Photoshop, MS Office/Excel, planning software
