This is highlighted by winning two Queens awards for export. We operate out of our head office in Liverpool as well as having sites in Manchester, Glasgow, London and Southampton. Our strategic partnership and on-going investment with Axion Recycling Ltd is enabling us to recycle up to95% of all materials we process via shredding,and our commitment to the environment is embodied with ourtarget of sending zero waste to landfill, an objective we constantly strive towards. Our core business is the recycling of both ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal from sources such as: End of life vehicles Car manufacturers Demolition companies Metal merchants Civic amenity sites Trade and general public An opportunity has arisen for a Site Manager (Southampton). Reporting into the Group Operations Manager, this role involves the day- to-day management of the site. The post holder will work collaboratively with other senior managers to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner ensuring the relevant business objectives are fulfilled on time and in full; this will involve working beyond normal contracted hours and being available, as required, to fulfil the needs of the role. The role supports the line is responsible business model, ensuring the Site Team is empowered, accountable and motivated to achieve the best results. Key Responsibilities: To assist the Company in its development of the site, its business and its people as follows: - Be responsible for compliance with Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety standards in force at any given time; ensuring workers always follow safe working practices. Implement relevant Integrated Management System (IMS) processes and procedures - Ensuring there are sufficient resources and competent workers available to fulfil short, medium and long term objectives, liaising with your Site Management Team, Line Manager and/or the Group Management Team (GMT) as appropriate - Ensure information pertaining to site operations is communicated effectively, overseeing the cascade of information at all levels, as required - Management of the workforce, including their performance and competency, both directly and indirectly through your Team; using all available resources; including performance reviews, training needs identification and people development opportunities. Ensure a good working relationship with colleagues, senior management and directors - Becoming familiar with all aspects of operating the site, its equipment and its people to enable efficient utilisation of resources; providing cover for increased workloads and/or absence as appropriate - Management of the site maintenance team, liaising regularly with the relevant Group Maintenance lead to ensure all equipment and materials are kept in good repair; materials and supplies are ordered in a timely manner, and the throughput of work is not interrupted - Working within the budgets set by the Company at any given time, ensuring the site complies with Group procedures for purchasing and procurement - Liaison with the relevant member(s) of the Commercial Team; to ensure development of good working relationships with suppliers and customers (current and new). Support the Commercial Team to run material trials and adjust site operations to meet current/ future needs - Management of the site weighbridge(s) and staff, ensuring compliance with any applicable legal and internal requirements - Management of site logistics, including any site-based HGVs/ vehicles, export/ import operations (if relevant) and activities pertaining to dispatch of finished goods. Regularly liaising with the Companys Transport Manager to ensure sufficient resources and capacity are always available to support current workloads and new or expanding business - Ensure stock/ stock inventory is managed appropriately to meet the needs of the business and its customers (internal and external), utilising relevant systems in place at any given time - Responsibility for the profitability of the site, agreeing and implementing cost saving measures, where possible. Where available, review site management accounts/ financial data at agreed intervals - Liaising with external agencies/ partners to support export/ import activities; stevedores, draft surveyors, quality surveyors, inspectors and statutory bodies, as required - Develop business cases/ justification for site related projects, working with the Projects & Engineering Team as required, during all project phases - Ensure process modifications and significant changes are managed and documented, following the correct Group IMS procedures - Achieve/ exceed production KPIs, ensuring that finished materials/ product meet the relevant specifications for onward sale/ treatment - Where the facilities exist, responsible for the management of site laboratories, to meet operational/ business needs - Attending and contributing to team meetings, producing and communicating progress reports in a clear and concise manner; preparing reports and plans for the Integrated Management System (IMS); utilising all Group administrative systems - Liaising with your line manager to arrange cover for your own holidays - To carry out any additional duties that may be reasonably requested from time to time - To comply with Group policies and procedures as defined in the Group Employee Handbook and the post holders terms and particulars of employment - Ensure you and your team uphold the Group values and behaviours, at all times, fostering a safe and healthy culture on site Person Specification: -Safe:Must put safety first and never walk past an unsafe act. Poses the ability to develop innovative and pragmatic solutions to operational challenges, whilst always ensuring the safety of themselves and S.Norton personnel is not compromised. -Experience:Ideally from a Metals/ Plastics recycling background but not a pre-requisite.
