Compliance Manager - 9–12 Month FTC (Maternity Cover) Location: Bournemouth Start date: June 2026 (or a few weeks either side) Salary: c. £70,000 Working pattern: Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home) I’m supporting a well‑established law firm with the appointment of an experienced Compliance Manager to join their team on a fixed‑term basis. This is a key maternity cover role, overseeing day‑to‑day compliance operations and supporting the firm’s regulatory obligations. The role You’ll take a central role in managing the compliance function, supervising a small team and ensuring the firm maintains high standards of risk management and regulatory adherence. Responsibilities include: • Supervising compliance assistants (x2), a client onboarding administrator and a compliance administrator, • Coordinating the file review process, analysing monthly data, identifying trends and recommending risk‑mitigation actions, • Handling complex compliance queries, • Managing complaints processes and maintaining oversight spreadsheets, • Updating policies and maintaining the central register, • Ensuring the undertakings register is accurate and up to date, • Delivering compliance induction training and ad‑hoc training where needed, • Producing regular Compliance Bulletins, • Reviewing the risk register monthly and escalating concerns to COLP/COFA, • Ensuring key documents (e.g., AML Manual, FWRA) remain current, • Monitoring regulatory and legislative changes and identifying required internal actions, • Preparing agendas for and leading monthly COLP/COFA meetings, • Driving the project to reduce old client balances, • Supporting Lexcel and CQS accreditation processes, • Conducting legal research, • Assisting with compliance investigations, • Drafting and submitting Suspicious Activity Reports or SRA reports, • Promoting consistent risk management and best practice across the firm, • Supporting ad‑hoc compliance projects, • Upholding the firm’s core values: clients, people, teamwork and progressiveness Skills & experience The ideal candidate will bring: • Strong general education, including English and Maths, • A law degree or legal qualification (desirable), • Experience working in a law firm (desirable), • Essential experience within a compliance function in a regulated environment, • Strong IT skills across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and legal software, • Good keyboard, audio and copy‑typing skills, • Excellent interpersonal skills, • A creative, solutions‑focused approach to problem‑solving, • Professionalism, credibility and the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion, • Strong time‑management skills and the ability to work under pressure, • Confidence working independently as well as collaboratively Please apply ASAP in order to be considered, or send your CV to
