The role also involves working closely with the Estimating Department, engineers, and surveyors to ensure that projects are completed safely, whilst ensuring customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral ManagementProduce financial forecasts, monitor and control project costs and cost reporting, and produce monthly reports to the Contracts Manager on project performance, efficient team building and labour organisationDeliver projects from the design phase to completion, including all handover documentationReview progress, budget resources and planningReview work packages and ensure the scope of work is clearly defined and understoodChair weekly site meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actionsBuild and maintain good relationships with the customer, framework suppliers and design consultantsDevelop and maintain construction programmes with Barhale staffCo-ordinate and manage site investigations during the ongoing construction processDevelop engineering solutions so that a buildable, cost-effective construction solution is delivered that fulfils the clients requirementsEnsure production and implementation of Project Plans, risk assessments, method statements, site waste management plans, and procurement of plant and materials are in line with company proceduresEnsure detailed site diaries/records are completedMaintain commercial tension to drive out costs and challenge the status quoPrepare comprehensive estimates for additional work outside target costsAssist with estimating new tendersChase potential new clientsHealth, safety and environmentalBy example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in the promotion of HS&E procedures and best practices, ensuring compliance with Company procedures and legal obligationsEnsure all HSE-related documents are kept up to dateProduce monthly reports for the HSE teamAllocate HSE responsibilities and duties for site personnel, check understanding and provide training as necessaryEnsure that all subcontractors take appropriate steps to follow Barhales procedures and processesEnsure that site waste management plans and site-specific environmental risk assessments are produced and maintainedLiaise with third parties to ensure compliance with HSG47, HAUC, NRSWA and Chapter 8 and other required regulatory standardsProvide training and briefings to the team, to lead cascade briefings, TBTs, 3 Pillar Forums and general briefingsQualityBe responsible for managing and producing ITPs and ensuring they are signed off by relevant partiesEnsure that the QA File is produced and maintainedClose out any technical queriesEnsure as-builts and O&M manuals are submitted to the client on completionAbout youEssentialGood working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme & Risk Management, and cost control, including forecasting, actual cost, and value reportingAbility to use Primavera P6 software or equivalentDegree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalentCSCS managers cardSMSTSNEBOSH Construction CertificateKnowledge of the NEC contract, including the Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanismsExcellent communication, people, and team management skills, with the ability to influence, motivate and mentorAbility to challenge designs and resolve problems to a conclusionManage and deliver a successful project with minimal guidanceDesirableCEng MICEKnowledge of the JCT form of contractCaring and investing in youOur values have been embedded at Barhale for over 40 years, and they are our guiding principles regarding how we care and invest in people.
