Locum Pharmacist - Band 8a Rate - £30-£35 (Negotiable) About the Role We are working in partnership with an NHS service to recruit a dedicated and motivated Pharmacist to join a supportive team. Key Responsibilities • Provide pharmacy services in line with GPhC standards, SOPs, and contractual requirements, • Clinically check prescriptions for appropriateness, interactions, contraindications, and dosing, • Dispense and supervise dispensing activity accurately and safely, • Provide patient counselling on medication use, side effects, adherence, and self-care, • Support and supervise pharmacy teams (technicians, dispensers, counter staff) and maintain efficient workflow, • Manage controlled drugs and ensure safe storage, record-keeping, and regulatory compliance, • Provide NHS and private services where commissioned and trained (site dependent), such as:, • New Medicine Service (NMS), • Medicines Use Reviews (where applicable/commissioned), • Vaccinations (e.g., flu/COVID, where authorised), • Minor ailments advice and signposting, • Liaise with prescribers, GP surgeries, and other healthcare professionals to resolve prescribing queries, • Maintain accurate documentation and use pharmacy PMR systems confidently, • Promote good governance, safeguarding awareness, and patient confidentiality Essential Requirements • MPharm degree (or equivalent), • Current GPhC registration (in good standing), • Recent experience in a relevant pharmacy setting (community/hospital/primary care—depending on shifts), • Strong communication skills and a professional, patient-centred approach, • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and adapt to different systems and teams, • Up-to-date compliance documents as required for locum work (e.g., right to work, DBS where applicable) Desirable (Nice to Have) • Experience with common PMR systems (e.g., ProScript, Nexphase, Titan, Pharmacy Manager—varies by employer), • Vaccination accreditation and anaphylaxis training, • Experience delivering NHS clinical services and supporting medicines optimisation, • Independent Prescriber (IP) qualification (where relevant to GP/primary care roles), • Experience in high-volume community settings or multi-branch operations Working Arrangements • Flexible shifts: ad hoc, short-term cover, or longer placements, • Weekday and weekend availability may be required depending on site needs, • Rates vary by location, setting, and shift urgency What We Offer • Competitive locum rates, • Flexible scheduling and a variety of sites, • Fast onboarding support and compliance guidance, • Opportunities for repeat bookings and longer-term placements About Flexzo AI Flexzo AI is a specialist healthcare talent partner dedicated to connecting exceptional clinicians with forward-thinking NHS and independent healthcare services across the UK. The organisation is entering the next phase of a long-term aviation and defence-related programme and is expanding its engineering capability at a key site in Wiltshire. This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly unique operational environment, supporting a specialist aircraft platform used for advanced test and development activity. About the role Aircraft Mechanics and Avionic Technicians play a vital role in maintaining the safety, reliability and availability of the aircraft. Working alongside Licensed Engineers and reporting to the Station Engineer, you will support line maintenance activities in accordance with regulatory and organisational procedures. This is a weekday, non-shift role, offering excellent work–life balance.
